Plea to Geoffe

Jespher

Starter
It has become painfully apparent to me that Brad Miller just doesn't care to play at a high level. He is a good person, who is still trying to have fun out there, however, he is too slow to defend or score against a small/quick lineup, and he is too weak to defend the elite big lineups. He is always concerned with the calls he doesn't get, while constantly grabbing and hooking his opponents instead of moving his feet and playing defense effectively.

He is a good passer, however, the ball movement stalls as well while the Kings run most of the offense through his high post up opportunities. Like Bibby, and Artest, and aging Christie, and an injured Bobby Jackson back in the day, I think it is just time to move on. So please Geoffe, trade Brad Miller before the deadline this year. It will heal team morale, increase energy, defensive execution, offensive flow, ball movement, decrease technical fouls, finally give more time to the youth in a lost season to build for the future of this team. He has some trade value, if only for his large 2010 expiring contract. Starting centers are still few and far between. The Kings have 2 at the moment, and I much prefer to see Spencer Hawes in that role than his mentor...

Some trade ideas...

Kings Out

Brad Miller
Kenny Thomas
Quincy Douby

Kings In

Stephon Marbury (Bought out Expiring)
David Lee

Knicks Out

Stephon Marbury
David Lee

Knicks In

Brad Miller
Kenny Thomas
Quincy Douby

Why The Kings Do It: Dump Brad in a place where his expiring will be of use. Get a large expiring back in return (who they can buy out) as well as a young piece in David Lee. Makes lots of cap space this off season to sign a free agent and resign our young pieces

Why The Knicks Do It: Dump Stephon Marbury in a place where his expiring contract will be of use. Get large expirings back for 2010 LeBron watch and a half year rental of Quincy Douby in the 7 seconds or less offense of Mike DiAntoni.

Why The Kings Don't Do This: Stephon Marbury is a bad person

Why The Knicks Don't Do This: Brad Miller + Kenny Thomas on the court in an up tempo game...

Kings New Lineup (Pre Draft)

PG Beno Udrih/Bobby Jackson/Bobby Brown
SG Kevin Martin/Francisco Garcia
SF John Salmons/David Lee/Dante Greene
PF Jason Thompson/David Lee/Mikki Moore
C Spencer Hawesome/Sheldon Williams/Mikki Moore

Kings Out

Brad Miller

Kings In

Kirk Hinrich

Bulls Out

Kirk Hinrich

Bulls In

Brad Miller

Why The Kings Do This: Upgrade the PG position with Hinrich able to play 1 or 2 spot. Remove Miller to a friendly place so Geoffe can do right by him:rolleyes:. Improve perimeter defense exponentially.

Why The Kings Don't Do This: Hinrich has a salary stretching beyond 2010 and is known as an offensive liability at time, not exactly a Petrie player.

Why The Bulls Do This: Give full reign to Derrick Rose while solidifying a front court needing a true starting center. Improve offensive passing with a great PG and offensive C, and breath life into their offense. Also saves them money long term.

Why the Bulls Don't Do This: Brad Miller's defensive liabilities, would give them pause, however, the money savings and post threat in a small east should push them to do it.

Kings New Lineup (Pre Draft Picks)

PG Kirk Hinrich/Beno Udrih/Bobby Brown
SG Kevin Martin/Bobby Jackson/Quincy Douby
SF John Salmons/Francisco Garcia/Dante Greene
PF Jason Thompson/Mikki Moore/Kenny Thomas
C Spencer Hawes/Mikki Moore/Sheldon Williams

Bulls New Lineup

PG Derrick Rose/Larry Hughes/Lindsay Hunter
SG Ben Gordon/Thabo Sefalosha
SF Luol Deng/Andres Nocioni
PF Drew Gooden/Tyrus Thomas
C Brad Miller/Joakim Noah

imo, trading him for Lee is a fantasy that will never never happen (no way NY does it without Kevin Martin), and trading him for Hinrich is a desperation move that I hope he would not consider (why do I want another journeyman pg?).

I wish we could get involved in the Shawn Marion discussions. I was at the Miami game, that guy can still jump out of the gym. I think he is in a bad situaiton - if put in a good situation he can be terrific again.

Maybe there is a move somewhere with Salmons and Miller shipping out, and Marion and youth/picks shipping in (Beasley?)

Anyway I doubt Geoff needs any extra urging to get rid of Brad but every little bit helps I guess.

It's already common knowledge that both Brad and Salmons are being shopped. They've been trying to move Brad for quite a while.

Apparently we are not going to get a lot for him, if no one is that interested. Maybe closer to the deadline, but who is desperate for a reasonably skilled center, who might make enough of a difference for them?

Right now, Brad isn't exactly helping us market him, either.

Hinrich is a journeyman? He's still young and only played for one team. How can you be a journeyman when you haven't journeyed anywhere?

Hinrich would be an upgrade over anything we have at the point right now and he's still young.

The "journey" part of journeyman actually comes from Middle English and meant "day's labor."

Journeyman definition from M-W = 2 : an experienced reliable worker, athlete, or performer especially as distinguished from one who is brilliant or colorful <a good journeyman trumpeter — New Yorker> <a journeyman outfielder>

So it's not an insult, it just means he isn't especially notable or a star.

It's very unlikely that we'll get youth, pick and expiring contracts. If that's all we're looking for, we'd be limiting ourselves.

The goal should be youth and picks but we also need to be willing to take some longer contracts back (especially those of players who suck) to get them. Otherwise I don't see anything happening. Of course, there is the option of a straight salary dump with only junk coming back, just so the kids get to play.

I love the trade idea, it makes sense if we can unload even moore contracts....(pun intended) and I would be very okay with giving them a 2011 1st round pick to make it happen.
Like i have said before, Certain teams are waiting to see where they stand in the standings the week of the deadline. the word you all should remember is "squeez". If G-off can squeez one team by creating a bidding war for all our 2010 cap, the kings will become the center of the NBA(cap wise). The lakers, if they win enough, will be very interested in getting a foot or two deep into the 2010FA class. Come next season, things will heat up, and offers will be made, but as of NOW.....things are cool because if the kings move too soon, they are no longer a factor...and if the kings aren't winning a championship, aren't attracting free agents, and can't draft well, they sure as hill better be a factor in regards to the upcoming FA frenzy.

I wouldnt mind trading brad for heinrich, who is a decent PG. Not sure about his contract though so we have to pay attention to that.

I just wonder how much trade value Brad has left. I'll bet that GP has shopped Brad to about every team in the NBA that can do some sort of trade.

I would love to see Marbury in a Kings uniform.

whos left? what players could we possibly trade brad for? everyother bad player in the league have longer contracts than brad. im sure the knicks would love to trade brad for curry but why would we want curry? a better question is would the knicks trade duhon for beno?

I don't imagine Hinrich would fit this team. I think he's already peaked, but he's obviously quite a useful player despite that, with his ability to stretch defenses with his shooting, his slightly above average passing ability, and of course, his tenacious albeit foul prone defense. He really is fit for a playoff team, or even a contender...but with us, his skills would be absolutely useless especially since he's already 27, and he needs good motivated teammates who can optimize him to make his skills valuable. We would be better served looking for a younger, more athletic guard anyways--I see we've attempted to do that with Bobby Brown--via the draft or less likely, through free agency.
