Pistons vs. Lakers

That sucks, how can they beat the best team in the league? We're not losing any ground but not gaining any either. Come on Spurs, kill 'em!!!!!

Well it doesnt matter if its the best team in the league or not, there will be a few losses here and there. The same goes the other side as well, lakers losing to the hawks and celts makes up for that. If kings want to move ahead of the lakers then they need to take care of their games and not worry about what the lakers do.

There are a couple of games left with them and thats what might change the standings.

Pistons did seem flat footed, they were not going for the rebounds that they are known to do. Ben wallace was a non existence in the game and that was weird. Rasheed was throwing up bricks from all over the floor and that might have been the difference in the game. However this team might have ran out of their steam when they are supposed to kick it up a notch, they were playing in the same system that Larry Brown had put together and I dont think Phil saunders has done much here. He opened up the offense a little bit more but that may be the reason why they would fail this season, he has never come across as a playoff coach and I dont think it will change this year either.

I said it before and I will say that again, Pistons will not be in the finals this year. It could be the heat and mavs in the finals or the spurs if Duncan and Manu can get back to where they were last year. Pistons might have beaten the spurs (in fact chased them off the floor) this year but that was early in the season and the spurs dont peak untill April which is when we will see the real spurs.

Phil Jackson is also known for his late season spurts and the way he likes to finish the halfs in games or closing out the season. Last night the pistons got out coached and saunders did not have an answer. Some might call that as a good shooting touch from the lakers but if you watch closely Phil was calling the matchups and the pistons did not take advantage of anything whereas the lakers were.

Kwame kinda shut down rasheed and was definitely stronger than rasheed forcing rasheed to take those three pointers from half court.
Kobe on billups and Smush on tayshaun with devean on hamilton, took the pistons out of their offense, I thought they would go to prince more to take advantage of that matchup with smush or sasha on him and they didnt, even when the ball was with him he was taking jumpers.

Maybe its an one off game, but I am sure the spurs and the heat would have taken note and will try to exploit similarly

And thanks to Washington, the Lakers can breathe a little bit. The Kings have been breathing fire behind the Lakers, this loss to the Wizards will definitely compensate for the beating they potentially will get from the Spurs.

Miami cannot beat the Pistons in a seven-game series.

I will repeat this as often as you feel the need to repeat your claim that Detroit will not be in the Finals.

We will mark this for our discussion in June

I agree with Slim, Miami won't beat Detroit in a 7-game series. Because it's the Detroit Pistons ;). Also, they traded away/lost a lot of their athleticism (excluding Wade/Haslem), defense, consistency, scoring, chemistry, and impact guys they had and should of kept. In Eddie Jones (I really like Posey, but he's not quite as versatile or productive as EJ), Keyon Dooling, Damon Jones (yeah, most were open shots, but he was better than J-Will's been at shooting, along with his swagger), Rasual Butler.

Walker's been inconsistent, along with his other obvious faults, Payton's actually been quite solid and consistent though. J-Will seems to be okay (play-making, quiet attitude-wise), but has had a couple longish injuries, and that 3PT shooting hasn't really worked out. Kapono's been not too much, could be one of those guys-play-off-the-bench in the playoffs. Heat are also still developing the chemistry. Getting Derek Anderson will help out though, should stay healthy, and had a real nice debut vs. Hawks. If Detroit gets a bad injury to any of their starting five (which I hope not), especially in the back-court, that definitely betters the Heat chances.

If billups goes down (injury)...or big ben....pistons are done....It’s hard to imagine any nba team to go trough the season without injuries...

Exactly, the pistons havent had any injuries to their top 7 and though i dont want to wish injuries to them i cannot go against the law of averages either.

On the other hand miami is trying to find its identity with a new coach and a lot of new players, they will get it together when its time. I believe in stern and he will make things happen ;)
