Pistons to sign Maurice Evans to offer sheet

Even though I'm sad to see Mo go, I would like to see K-mart develop into his potential this year. And as for Songaila- I have a feeling Petrie is going to match any offer with him- he is a good back up at PF, knows our system, and has that outside 15 footer.

But yeah, this is K-mart's opportunity to break out, in my opinion.

i would rather have darius as a back up than thomas..... i pray that petrie trades thomas, but for what position? we have 3 pg's, 3 sg's, 2 sf's, 3 c's and would have 3 pf's... shareef, darius and whoever we traded for or thomas....

maybe trade for a center.... i dont want to lose darius..... i never really cared about evans since we had martin and now have garcia....

We still don't have a good or true back-up center, and Petrie said getting bigger/more size up front is a need. Corliss isn't definitely staying, neither is Thomas.

I see Skinner playing mostly PF this season, or splitting at PF/C.

If we kept Evans, no doubt he would of backed up Bonzi, and a bit for Peja.

You must realize, our bench is nowhere near set yet.

So that said, essentially were going to stick to Songalia and either resign him to stay as backup to SAR or resign him to a S&T, correct?

Can we really do a Sign&Trade for Darius?

The only way to sign him would be if we match an offer sheet
(I assume someone would make an offer more than our qualifying offer)

If a team wanted a sign and trade, usually its because they dont have cap space. So if we dont have cap space to sign Darius unless we are matching
an offer, would we have to wait for team A (with cap space or MLE, LLE) to make an offer first, then we could match and sign. After we match team A offer could we then trade to Team B?

If Team B has the cap space or MLE.LLE could they make the offer, then we match and sign, and still trade with Team B so Team B does not increase their total payroll?

I think that we should just match the offer if not too much (maybe up to 3 mil) and then we could trade either KT or Darius in a future trade. That would give us a 6 mil PF or a 3 mil PF as trading pieces. Need only one as a quality backup to Shareef.

Of course that just makes for more speculation on the Trading thread

Speaking of Detroit, they are in talks of trading Sheed for Chandler and Nocioni. Go figure. I hope thats BS. If I were the Bulls, I would say NO to that. This according to Hoopsworld.com

Luckily hoopsworld is about as unreliable as they come. The thought of a Ben Wallace/Chandler frontline is just frightening.

yep, plus why would you trade young for old and volatile in your own conference? Who knows.

my dad saw kevin martin at nordstrom rack the other day and said he's looking big. he was surprised, for what it's worth :P

I think Kevin needs to renegotiate his contract.;)

But isn't he more of a guard than a sf?

I actually thought of him as more of a guard (size), but the smallball mantra around here called him a SF, and he doesn't have great ballhandling skills + played SF in Europe I believe. True swingman.

I will miss Mo but with the gaurd glut the Kings have it makes no sense to sign him UNLESS there is a trade in the works that sends him off in a package to bring in a Center or at least a 4-5 swing.

Defense, yes....but offense, they are joke....

I say we use them both for S&T then get back a good quality back-up center for Brad and that completes our line up.

LET'S GO KINGS!!!!!!!

I don't believe the Bulls would ever do it, but with all the offensive boards those two would get, it would make up for the lack of scoring they provide. IMO

We can S&T them both for the teams that want their services like Chicago and get back Chandler or Curry in return. Or we can do that also with Denver and get back Nene in return. Either way, the kings will defintely benefit from that

With a new coach, that's not certain. I think they'll be a lot better than last year though.

A lot better than game 7 of the finals would mean destroying the league right?
I do agree with u about the saunders thing though.

In my opinion the Pistons lost to the Spurs not because they lacked defense and rebounding but because they couldn't put the ball in the hoop when it mattered. It was painful to watch Billups try to generate all of their offense at the end of Game 7. Chandler and Wallace would be nasty, but at this point I don't know that Detroit can give up any more offense.

Corliss is a center

Corliss is a center??? In what universe? He's 6' 7". He's a center if you have no one else to play center. He can play SF or PF. He played SF last year for the Kings. I sure as hell wouldn't want a 6' 7" guy in there playing center.

I meant in the regular season, yeah. Playoffs is what I mean in the question mark.

i highly doubt that chicago would trade a 22year old Chandler for a 31 year old Wallace in the same conference... but if their is any chance that chicago are thinking about trading chandler, maybe the kings can offer up Peja and Darius(S&T) for Chandler(S&T)...

probably very little chance Chandler would ever get traded, but i think peja (28year old) and darius (27year old) is more likely trade bait for chandler than a 31 year old Rasheed Wallace... especially since chicago needs more scoring to balance their team and peja has a tie to chicago coach scot skiles...

You're missing the sarcasm inherent in Piksi's post -- the fact is that Corliss DID play some C for us last year, which was the ultimate smallballing joke. He doesn't really have a position, but SF would have to be it if anything. He's also not 6'7" any more than I am BTW.
