Pierce for Nene and Miller?

Dumb move for both teams if you ask me. IF its true.

A league source informs InsideHoops.com editor Jeff Lenchiner Wednesday evening that the Boston Celtics are expected to trade all-star guard/forward Paul Pierce to the Denver Nuggets for guard Andre Miller and forward/center Nene.

It's not known if other players are involved in the completion of the deal.

Totally disagree. Celtics get the floor general they need to mentor all that young talent, plus a young center to team with Jefferson for the next decade. And the Nuggets get one of the top OGs in the game, and have a nasty 1-2 scoring punch with him and Mello. I suppose PG duties fall to Boykins though, who you probably don't want playing starter's minutes if you consider yourself a real contender.

Stupid move. They are already stacked with talent at SGish, why trade for another?

I think they could get much more for these guys.

Wow. I sure wish Pierce could have come just a little bit further West... I think if this is true it just might bite us in the posterior.

And Venom? Brace yourself. ;)

I totally agree with your assessment.

Great move for both teams actually. A new power is rising in Denver. Knew when they picked up Watson that something must be afoot. This is a huge move for them, and now they're just nasty at OG/SF. And from the Celtics viewpoint it could hardly be a more logical deal if they were determined to go youong -- get their PG AND a young big with big potential.

Denver lineup looking good:

C - Camby
PF - Martin
SF - Carmelo
OG - Pierce
PG - Watson
6th- Boynkins

Have some questions about their deeper bench though.

All I have to say is wow...

Even at the possibility of it. Makes sense with Watson there now, and Nene can be Celts center, and it's not like the Nuggets would lose a lot if Nene left, for a guy like Pierce.

And where are the people who were saying the Nuggets wouldn't even make the playoffs?

The West just got a LOT more interesting if that rumor ends up being true.

Melo and Pierce out there at the same time is pretty much the only thing confusing me right now. I just don't know how well those guys will complement eachother. Plus Boston has 50 million PG's, and to take on one nearing the age of 30 doesn't make sense to me.

Young mistakes cost them the series against the spurs last year.... How do u think they would fair against them next year if this trade goes down?... We all know what pierce is capable of doing in the 4th quarters of playoff games....

This team makes me go WOW!

Steve Nash theory with Andre -- bring in the veteran pass first PG to bring the kids together and direct things. None of their other PGs were worth a damn anyway, and they just got about 10 years younger at the position than they were last year.

Melo and Pierce looks like a tremendous two man punch to me. Especially when you have great defensive roleplayers like Watson and Camby out there who do the dirty work but aren't going to be looking for shots. Melo and Pierce will score inside, score outside, work the post, and plenty of shots for both in that lineup, with Martin as a pretty good #3 weapon who also plays defense, + the dynamic scoring 6th man in Boynkins. Its a very balanced crew. My only questions would be 1) backup big men -- both starters are injury prone, so they will need Elson to step up. And 2) still a little shy of shooting, although Pierce obviously helps and is a definite upgrade over the guys they traded. But if they keep Lenard he can come off the bench and add a potent dose of that as a roleplayer.

i'm trying to figure out when "nearing the age of 30" became old. pierce has got several good years left in him.

That's a good deal for both teams. Except Denver loses Nene which changes them from strong in the frontcourt (with an eye for the future) to weak in the frontcourt. An injury to Martin or Camby is devastating now. Boston gets another young bigman to build around (if they can re-sign him). Whether Pierce and Carmelo can play well together is something I'm going to have to see before I believe it. Both are potential attitude problems and both are going to want the ball -- a lot. It's a scary lineup on paper, but one that I half expect to underperform.

Souns like a decent deal (a real coup for Denver) if it actually exists. A little unexpected after all that chatter about Nene not really being the one they wanted to trade, but it sure looks to make sense. Is this a legitimate source? Good track record? (rookie question). Denver's bench might be a little thin to make a true title run if there are no other players involved, but there are far worse problems to have than a weak 7-9.

Brick's right (as usual)...that is a terrifying top 6. One I do not want to see come playoff time if all goes well for Denver with their chemistry.
It's still gotta actually happen though.

Wow, if this goes down Denver would be really scary. I guess chemistry is never a guarantee, but Pierce should fit in easily with that bunch. Might still need a shooter depending on Leonard (can Hoiberg play this year?), and another big man (Najera?).

Here's what insidehoops is saying:

The Denver Nuggets want Paul Pierce. That we know.

A source informed InsideHoops.com Wednesday evening that the Boston Celtics are expected to trade all-star guard/forward Paul Pierce to the Denver Nuggets for guard Andre Miller and forward/center Nene. But late Thursday morning a high-ranking member of the Celtics organization told InsideHoops.com via email that the rumor is "incorrect."

Also Thursday morning, Boston newspapers report that Celtics godfather Red Auerbach is in the hospital. A source quoted in the New York Post said Thursday morning that Auerbach is in a coma.

NOTE: I removed the link to realGM, because it was not the actual source. The actual source was an update to the original article on InsideHoops.
I was, in fact, speaking to kingkung; not that I believe that this rumor is legitimate, but I wanted the source for his report that a "high ranking official" had refuted it.

Sorry, this is my fault...

kingkung posted a link to realGM, which was a legitimate link - but not to the story. It was to realGM, which then linked you back to InsideHoops.

The link wasn't "bogus" - it just wasn't to the true source of the information.

I was talking about Andre Miller. Who isn't old by any means. Just that Boston is very young, and it would be a virtual waste of a very good PG in his prime.

Here is the answer to your querry...

PP's best years were with Walker right? And Walker was nothing more than a shooting machine (an oft broken one, but effective). Melo is also a volume scorer, who is even MORE aarogant than Walker. Therefore, I conclude that PP will do just fine.

For the record, I have historically LOVED PP, and I always respected Walker.
