Detroit came back from seventeen down against the Phoenix Suns to win at home today... but it was not without a price: Rasheed Wallace was served with his sixteenth technical foul of the season, which will result in a league-mandated one-game suspension, and end the Pistons' NBA-record streak of consecutive games started by the same starting lineup at seventy-three.

I happen to like the Pistons, and wanted to see them get to eighty-two, so I'm a little annoyed by this. Still, it was nice to see them crank up the defense in the second half and bust Phoenix's mythical "great" offense in the mouth; I love watching good defense.

Was a good game indeed, I just knew Detroit wouldn't let the Suns play like they did in the 1st half. Billups/Ben/Prince ran them out of the palace.

Isn't an official suspension yet for Sheed, as the league will review it and then can be rescinded or not.

It was a bum deal that he got this one. I saw the play as it happened, and he had legitimate beef; he was just standing up for his teammate, anyway. I'd be willing to wager that as many as half the technicals he's been served with this season have been "reputation" technicals... as in, Ben Wallace likely doesn't get T'd up if the same things come out of his mouth...

As for the game, I agree; I think that the main reason that Phoenix was able to get out to an early lead is because Detroit's defense is mostly attuned to stop interior scoring, and that's not where Phoenix does their scoring... once the Pistons calibrated their defense to Phoenix's style, it was only a matter of time.

That, and the fact that Phoenix is soft, and have exhibited a tendency to wilt under pressure.

Press Release - Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace has received an automatic one game suspension without pay after receiving his 16th technical of the 2005-06 season, it was announced today by Stu Jackson, NBA Senior Vice President Basketball Operations.

This season the NBA instituted a progressive technical foul schedule that applies to players and coaches. A player or coach receives an automatic one-game suspension after receiving his 16th technical foul. Every other technical foul beyond 16 (18, 20, 22, ect.) will also result in a one-game suspension without pay.

Well, it wasn't rescinded ;). BTW, Kobe Bryant has 13 technicals this year.
