Phoenix/Dallas

I truly don't care which of the four teams remaining gets to the Finals... as long as they're not the Heat and the Mavericks...

Quite an impressive win by Dallas in Phoenix. Dallas once again controlled the tempo, played their game, and took the Suns out of theirs - only even better this time. Dirk/Diop/HOWARD/Stackhouse/Terry were all key for Dallas. Marion scoring just ten pts hurt the Suns, as well as their turnovers.

Key stats: 13 Suns assists, 4 fastbreak pts, 42% shooting, 88 total pts.

I think the Suns miss Raja Bell more than anything. They're loaded with other people who can shoot, but he's been more consistent than anyone in the playoffs.

Actually, I think, more than anything else, this shows why most of the heads were saying before the start of the season that the Suns couldn't win without Stoudemire.

Go Mavs. It'd be good to see Cuban win a title. I think it would humble him a bit.

1962, 1963, 1965, 1966, 1968, 1969, 1970, 1972, 1973, 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1987, 1988, 1989, 1991, 2000, 2001, 2002, 2004

Well, now I'm sure I don't want the Mavs to win!!

I know, right? Like, since when has winning a championship ever made *anybody* humble?

In fact, it is more likely than not to have the opposite effect...especially in the case of someone like Cuban who is just an oversized little boy (or acts like one anyway). And the more titles someone wins, the odds of increased ego not humble increase exponentially.

I don't have much baggage as far as Cuban goes so I'd actually find it funny to see how much smack he talks next year if Dallas wins.

So, just as I stated in another thread, Laker fans such as yourself are mostly "rooting" for the Mavericks because they're the only team still playing that a) hasn't beaten the Lakers in the playoffs or b) have Shaquille O'Neal on it?

Very compelling observation, Sir

Humble him a bit? HUMBLE him a bit? Humble HIM a bit?

Dear Gargy, I hope you were at least cackling gleefully to yourself as you typed that.

Humble and Mark Cuban cannot exist in the same universe, let alone the same paragraph.

As far as the game goes, the Mavs are very lucky Raja Bell and Amare are out. I don't think they'd beat a FULL-strength Suns squad.

Agreed on both parts. Especially your first item: winning a championship will never humble Cubes. Would it humble you or me VF21 or anyone for that matter? DOUBTFUL. just human nature...

The Mavs are lucky to be up 2-1 but not b/c Raja is out or Amare is out. Yes both are fine players but the Mavs can still match up with them pretty evenly. No, they're lucky b/c they've got a tired Phoenix team and they're up 2-1 when they haven't even played close to their best basketball they're capable of. Hell I've felt like we've stole the last 2 games from the Suns - this isn't Mavericks basketball they're playing like crap. And make no mistake, Phoenix is tired and if they're not tired now - they will be.

Without Bell, the Suns are struggling...Barbosa hasn't done too well shooting as a starter...in fact, I can only think of one layup that he has made in the last two games of the approximately 15 he's taken. Not to mention that Barbosa could spell Nash for a couple more minutes per game, as we've all read about how Nash is starting to slow down a little bit towards the end of this season.
The Mavs are clearly the more talented, balanced team in this matchup, and so they should win the series. I think the Suns will get one more win at most.

As for Amare, I'll be interested to see what his game looks like come next year.
