Today's phobia is: Chionophobia

Looking outside my window, it's a good thing I'm not chionophobic.

;)

Um, Chionophobia is the unrational fear of snow... I probably should have mentioned that. ;)

I found a whole listing of an unbelieveable number of phobias. I'm going to post one every day and probably develop at least a couple of them myself.

And the phobia for today is:

Phronemophobia- Fear of thinking.

I know a lot of people who seem to suffer from this one.

I should probably stay clear of this whole thread, however, as I suffer from phobophobia.

Hey, that wasn't scheduled until Friday!

;)

Phobia for yesterday:

Achluophobia- Fear of darkness.

Phobia for today:

Arachibutyrophobia- Fear of peanut butter sticking to the roof of the mouth.

Guess I didn't realize that people are afraid of having that happen. At most I would think it simply an annoyance. Hmmm... learn something new everyday.

That's my goal.

;)

Wait until you see some of the other ones...

That's what I like about Kingsfans.com. Not only is it fun and entertaining, but it's educational, too! :p hee hee

Sorry, I'm all off the wall tonight.

Helminthophobia- Fear of being infested with worms.

Why be so specific?

Wouldn't a fear of being infested by anything suffice?

Does this mean that a helminthophobic person would be okay with some other infestation? I, personally, would like to stay clear of the whole business.

I don't make up the phobias; I just list them.

Well, duh. :p

Just wondering, is all.

I'm bored and this seemed like a much more interesting topic to contemplate than the homework and bill paying currently battling for my brain's attention.

And today, in honor of St. Patrick's Day:

Teleophobia- Fear of religious ceremony.

For Saturday, March 18:

Zemmiphobia- Fear of the great mole rat.

For Sunday, March 19:

Staurophobia- Fear of crosses or the crucifix. (I'm guessing this one is prevalent with certain creatures of the night...) ;)

For Monday, March 20:

Optophobia- Fear of opening one's eyes.

Being left-handed, I always suspected this one existed:

Dextrophobia- Fear of objects at the right side of the body.

It might also explain Peja's penchant for moving to the left to shoot.

;)

I was watching the Tonight Show, so this one seemed appropriate.

For Wednesday, March 22:

Geniophobia- Fear of chins.

Can you imagine somebody seeing Jay Leno for the first time with this phobia?!

And for today, Thursday, March 23:

**Hellenologophobia- Fear of Greek terms or complex scientific terminology.

Hellenologophobia-phobia - Fear of having to say "hellenologophobia" out loud. :p

Another one you really can't have if you live up here:

Nyctohylophobia- Fear of dark wooded areas or of forests at night

I had that as a teenager. I stayed alone at my Aunt Kathy's house around Grass Valley. There was a mountain Lion spotted down the road the day before and I pretty much had myself beliving there was Lions, Tigers, and Bears after me( Oh MY!)all night long.;)

Saw a White Tail on the front porth though in the morning. That was cool.

Okay, I have to admit this next one had me staring at the screen.

When I was in the third grade, there was a school bully named Melissa. She beat up the girls for lunch money and the boys because she could...

Imagine my relief when I found this referred NOT to people named Melissa.

;)

Melissophobia- Fear of bees.

After tonight's game, I certainly hope none of the King suffer from Enissophobia, which is the fear of criticism. If so, they might want to make sure there's a shrink or six on the plane to Portland tonight.
