[PHO/SAC] Discussion thread

Had me scared when I came to check on the outcome, Slim. However, it appears someone found the Musselman antidote for the fourth quarter. ;)

you know the team is playing well when they can win by nine on arguably their worst offensive game of the season.

29-45 from the line
25-77 from the field

Not pretty at all...however the 4th qt. was the clincher.
Monarchs got the tempo they liked, got into the penalty with 5 min. on the clock, started making free throws, and got some steals...all these factors ==Win #6!

I'm still proud of how we came out fired up in the 4th.

NBH is correct. The Monarchs came out firing away in the 1st quarter. Then it got ugly in the 2nd, 3rd, and part of the 4th. Luckily, our gals pulled away with it in the final 4-5 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

To be sure, this was not a pretty game to watch. But an "ugly win" is still a win.

For the second game in a row against Phoenix, the Monarchs set a franchise high in free throw attempts (43).

I thought that third quarter was one of the worst quarters of basketball I have ever seen. Phoenix literally fouled the Monarchs every single time down the floor. They got out of their usual matchup zone and began to play man to man. But what made it so bad is that Phoenix plays defense more with their hands than their feet and they began to hack. You begin to see Monarch players go down in droves. First Sho Robinson, then Kara, then Newton. And what made it even more frustrating was the Monarchs were missing free throws.

OH BUT THAT FOURTH QUARTER!!!! That was beautiful, confident, Monarch ball, that looked a lot like Mercury Ball. What I like about how Sacramento is playing is that they are not hesitant on the offensive side. They are taking the first open look. It is not alot of standing around; just alot of energy, passion and shots being made.

Let's get greedy and go for numbers seven and eight this weekend!!!!!:D
