Petriespeak

Kingster

Hall of Famer
From today's Bee:

"Petrie said he likes 15 players and that he would be open to obtaining a second pick via a trade. The Kings do not have a second-round pick. 'If on draft day there happened to be a player there we really liked that we might be able to acquire, we would do that,' he said."

That's the most optimistic sign I've seen in 2 years. For Petrie to even comment on the possibility of getting another #1 is like having one of the stone president's at Mt. Rushmore make a political pronouncement. Maybe he does want to go young after all...

PS The writing is convoluted. The comment about the 2nd round pick obscures the main point - he wants another #1.

Your right. This is encouraging, especially from GP. Now the real wonder is who are those 15 players he likes? How many are Euros?

Amick E-Mail

And to make sure that I got the interpretation right, I e-mailed Amick to ask for clarification on whether he meant a 1st or 2nd round pick. This is what he said:

"The answer is yes. I think he's going to look into getting another pick of any kind, be it first or second round."

Remember one of the main things that was holding Petrie back during the trade deadline was not getting picks in return. I'm really hoping we can end up snatching a couple bigs out of this draft.
