So then we sign Anderson to a 4-5 year contract meaning we selected T-Rob to be back up in his entire career in Sac ? Or We start Anderson, T-Rob takes over and we have 8 million a year on a back up PF ?

JT is a player that can play both C and PF without any real drop off in his productivity. I would resign him and spend my time and effort turning every stone to find a defensive player.

Well, it's not really his choice as a RFA, and Orl has made it clear he's a priority, although things could change. I just don't know how I feel about him as a target with TRob now here. Ryan can be a good man defender, but I also think playing next to the freak of nature D12 has impacted that. To waht extent, who knows, but many PF's would look better defensively with D12 behind them. So I'm not really sure how I'd like him as a 3rd big.
The other aspect is he's probably best as a stretch 4 playing off a guy like Cuz. As a 3rd big he naturally wouldn't be played alongside Cuz as much though. I Like TRob a lot and figure he'll be starting right out the gate, and if not then by mid season. I can see the thought process behind a guy like Ryan next to Cuz, although I may not agree with it, but don't think it makes since after draft day.
Robinson has to earn the starting PF spot. He had to earn it with the Jayhawks and he would have to do the same here. How quickly he takes it entirely depends on how he adapts. Of course the Kings picked him hoping that he would be a great pairing with Cousins going forward. Handing a starting spot to a young player who hasn't earned it yet is just filling them with entitlement and not confidence.

There is no way a kid going into his prime, coming off career best and an amazing shooting season, is going to the bench for a lottery team. 24 years old = wants to be a starter = wants a chance for one more big contract before he hangs him up.

are we sure anderson cant play SF? has anyone ever seen him actually guard SF's on a regular basis or is this all just assumption?

I rather hand him the spot and let him and Cousins grow together than hand it to Anderson. I just see our growth taking a step back if we sign Ryan Anderson to be our PF.

I agree, but, and it's a considerable but, it won't take TRob 3 years to lock down the starting spot. This is a #2 overall talent is a stacked draft. I also think Ryan makes much more sense as a starter than a 3rd big, as imo he impacts the game more as a stretch 4 off a guy like Cuz, and neither are ideal for being a 3rd big. I'd prefer the 3rd big to be a nasty, defensive type guy.

I can agree - but they aren't easy to come by without paying the price via trade or free agency.

I feel like this shows Jason Thompson is not automatic coming back to the Kings and may even show he is leaning towards other teams.
JT is the type of guy who would get a deal done with Sacramento ASAP and since the Kings keep saying he is the top priority but nothing has happened so far with him, shows he is hanging off a string here in Sacramento.
JT is a similar player to Robinson and having Anderson would be awesome as he is a deadly shooter and a pretty good rebounder (offensively as well).

I'd be a lot more excited about the possibility of signing Ryan Anderson if we had drafted a SF. If that was the plan all along we should have taken the Houston trade and got Harkless and Lowry to go with Anderson and Thompson. Surely they had a FA wishlist already before the draft. As it stands there's already going to be a minutes crunch with Robinson and Thompson.
But why? Why go out and acquire two players who play the same position and then test whether you can get them to play somewhere else? Why not just go after a SF to play SF instead? Is it really that bad that the only players who will come to Sacramento are those that have no choice or are from the area?

That's the thing, first year maybe it works well, but at some point in the near future imo one of TRob or Ryan will not be getting the mins they need to either maximize the development of TRob, or to justify whoch would probably be a pretty good size contract in Ryan(although that remains to be seen). Ryan is a starter, and TRob will be, and agian, imo you don't draft the top PF and #2 overall talent in a draft and immediately go out and bring in a playoff caliber starting player at his same position.
And not to sound like a broken record, but with TRob/Cuz/Ryan, I'm worried about our defense. Although get a guy like AK and I feel much better about it. Just think the 8M+ that would probably go towards Ryan can be put to better use, but who knows, the FA market in fluid and changing by the hour.

That's my question about Anderson. It doesn't make sense to spend money on a PF when we have TRob and JT. Although TRob is not a known quantity, I have no fears about his adjustment to the NBA. JT is a known product and can play two positions. Therefore we don't need another PF. Let's not overload another position. We need a SF. Anderson can shoot from the outside. Can he play SF? Certainly he can stand in a corner as some SFs do. If he can play SF he can start. He also could be a backup PF and be a nice addition to this team. Nicely this would make a clear change away from small ball which I suspect a lot of people would like.

I know he's darn big but he shoots well. Probably can't defend some SFs but I wouldn't sign both either to simply be PFs which actually is what I said.

240 6-10, can shoot from the 3, decent rebounder. I mean If we started IT,Evans,Anderson,T-Rob,Boogie. We would be fast, big and nasty. But on the defensive side it would be a whole another story.

Just went to 82games, and there's nothing on him playing SF. Only PF/C. I know he can shoot like a SF, I just don't think I'd want him guarding Lebron, Gay, Melo, Granger and a handful of other SF's on the perimeter.

Added the team has made a formal offer to Thompson and he will continue to talk to Rose. Said meeting with Anderson was good. On whether Anderson was a PF or SF Petrie said: "A lot of that depends onwho’s making the opinion. He was primarily a four (power forward) in Orlando but he can play some other spots on the perimeter." Has spoken to Terrence Williams' agent, Aaron Goodwin, but J.T. is the priority to re-sign.
