Yeah no chance he can defend the SF position. Would only make sense if they had plans to move or lose one or more of their big men. Maybe a S&T with the Magic? If they lose Howard, then they might not want to dump a big contract on Anderson.
Maybe it means we are trading Hayes
Interesting.
However, at the same time, strange. Obviously we're not thin at the post with Cousins/Robinson/Hayes/Whiteside and -- it would appear -- we want to bring back JT. Anderson could mean we're not really pursuing JT, or it could mean we think he can play (and defend) the 3. But without another move it seems unlikely that there's money enough for both JT and Anderson. (At the same time, it seems unlikely that there's money enough for both JT and AK47, so...)
This is scary, I just hope Petrie is not thinking about signing Anderson at the expense of JT.

As a defense first believer, normally I'd agree but I actually think a move like this makes some sense. JT does a lot of the same things as trob and while it's great to have a hard working, steady big as a 3rd guy, it might make more sense go bring in a stretch 4 that can still board.
One can only hope! Hey, for all we know he just happened to be in town and went to lunch with Petrie. So I'm not going to get worked up one way or the other until I hear something concrete.
He's a RFA, can't see the Magic letting him walk. Do they have bird rights on him? What is his projected value.
I think I might rather have him than AK. Doesn't give us the D, but much better shooter and above average rebounder.
if we sign anderson then cant we just do a sign and trade JT for a SF? i wouldnt just let JT walk for nothing.
Have to wonder about the first part. Anderson's a high end role player, but counts on others to create O. If they were keeping D12, then Anderson is a no brainer for them.
If they are trading Howard for picks and youth, then does it make sense for them to pay Anderson ~8 million per season? Could see them wanting to clean house and clear payroll to rebuild.
well if you are wanting to add outside shooting this makes sense off the bench. Im not sure how i feel about Anderson replacing Thompson though. We know what Thompson brings and we know what Anderson brings. Not sure how Robinson is going to pan out yet and I damn sure don't want Hayes or Anderson ending up the starter beside Cousins. Thats a backward move if Robinson doesn't pan out.
Imagine if Hassan panned out... Ryan Anderson and he would be a monster inside out bench big man combo. They'd score down low, score on the perimeter, rebound every where and block every shot at the rim.
I doubt Ryan would want to go from Orl playoff starter to Sac bench player.
