He's a RFA, can't see the Magic letting him walk. Do they have bird rights on him? What is his projected value.

I think I might rather have him than AK. Doesn't give us the D, but much better shooter and above average rebounder.

Interesting.

However, at the same time, strange. Obviously we're not thin at the post with Cousins/Robinson/Hayes/Whiteside and -- it would appear -- we want to bring back JT. Anderson could mean we're not really pursuing JT, or it could mean we think he can play (and defend) the 3. But without another move it seems unlikely that there's money enough for both JT and Anderson. (At the same time, it seems unlikely that there's money enough for both JT and AK47, so...)

He's not a SF y'all. He's PF, that's it. Doesn't make much sense with the drafting of Robinson and possible re-signing of JT.

I know a lot of people like him, but he just isn't much of a fit anymore. Maybe if we don't re-sign JT?

Yeah no chance he can defend the SF position. Would only make sense if they had plans to move or lose one or more of their big men. Maybe a S&T with the Magic? If they lose Howard, then they might not want to dump a big contract on Anderson.

Imagine if Hassan panned out... Ryan Anderson and he would be a monster inside out bench big man combo. They'd score down low, score on the perimeter, rebound every where and block every shot at the rim.

To ponder, knowing that you just drafted your starting PF of the future, would you let JT go and replace him with Ryan Anderson? Anderson has been starting and getting big minutes. I can't see him visiting unless there is some sort of thought to creating an opening for him to play big minutes.

I don't see Ryan at the SF position. He's an underrated rebounder, and of course a terrific outside shooter. And he's young. I've always like him, and his defense is fine. Not sure how we could aquire him, unless through a sign and trade. I would think Orlando would match any offer we made.

This is scary, I just hope Petrie is not thinking about signing Anderson at the expense of JT.
As a defense first believer, normally I'd agree but I actually think a move like this makes some sense. JT does a lot of the same things as trob and while it's great to have a hard working, steady big as a 3rd guy, it might make more sense go bring in a stretch 4 that can still board.

I'm sure they've had talks with JT. Who knows? Maybe JT showed them an offer from another team for 10 mil a year. There's been some crazy spending out there already. One thing is for sure, Anderson could help spread the floor for Cuz.

One can only hope! Hey, for all we know he just happened to be in town and went to lunch with Petrie. So I'm not going to get worked up one way or the other until I hear something concrete.
Ryan Anderson is a very local product. Grew up here, so hopefully he was visiting family over the weekend and perhaps just grabbing a bite with fellow basketball heads.

If not, id like to see how in Petrie we trust folks can spin this as a positive.

Doesn't say anything about his agent being there too. Could just be meeting for lunch to talk. Maybe they are trying to get some info on other offers he has received to help determine the market for PF's.

Have to wonder about the first part. Anderson's a high end role player, but counts on others to create O. If they were keeping D12, then Anderson is a no brainer for them.

If they are trading Howard for picks and youth, then does it make sense for them to pay Anderson ~8 million per season? Could see them wanting to clean house and clear payroll to rebuild.

well if you are wanting to add outside shooting this makes sense off the bench. Im not sure how i feel about Anderson replacing Thompson though. We know what Thompson brings and we know what Anderson brings. Not sure how Robinson is going to pan out yet and I damn sure don't want Hayes or Anderson ending up the starter beside Cousins. Thats a backward move if Robinson doesn't pan out.

Yep I think the Magic are not quite ready to pay out big on Anderson knowing this Howard thing is tumbling further out of their control.

And if you put Anderson and Jimmer on the floor, it creates a bunch of space. But again on defense, you will take your lumps. Might be a potent bench unit and offense defense situation lineup filler. But I would not want them as my primary starters.

yeah i think i like the idea of TROB starting next to DMC with whiteside and anderson off the bench. I wouldnt want anderson starting either.

I doubt Ryan would want to go from Orl playoff starter to Sac bench player.

Smart, unlike Westphal, will not start Robinson right away. He's going to come off the bench until he proves he deserves to start. Especially if JT stays with the Kings. Pretty much said that at the press conference. He'll have to earn the job.

I would be pointless signing Ryan Anderson if he was to start at the 4. We invested with a pick into T-Rob. Anderson wouldn't want to be a back up. If we did start Anderson it would be a 4-5 year deal basically meaning we then selected T-Rob to be back up ? No way I don't buy that.

That leaves me to believe they think he can play SF. I mean he can shoot any shot on the court, he can rebound. He can handle the ball a bit. The biggest question mark is that if he can play defense and guard other 3s.
