I'm sorry, I just HAVE to post about this group and share my joy. They are amazing! I haven't liked a group this much in I don't know how long... Enjoy!!

Thank you! Great sound. Love the harmony. Maybe this could be our new "music" thread, where we post YouTube clips of the music gems out there that almost nobody knows about.

Yeah I know these people are amazing!!! All their covers are unreal. This could be a music thread, I'm up for that... but it could also just be a thread about Pentatonix!! :)

Their Lady Gaga On the Edge of Glory is just... man! So good! And the Gotye. And then the Whitney Houston! I can't wait until they do few Micheal Jackson songs. This group is going nuclear.

I like this but I like the guy on the left's vocals better and he should have done the intro too. I know that's usually not how these things work though and you gotta spread the love around. I will go check out their Edge of Glory cover, seems a lot of a cappella groups do that but the song is a total guilty pleasure of mine. I guess a lot of Gaga's stuff is good for that kind of treatment.

As for this song, the best thing I have seen on it is the "We Are Old" parody. So sad and so true.

Mitch gets a chance to shine a bit in their version of "Somebody that I used to know" by Gotye.

He's also got this killer intro in this INCREDIBLE rendition of a classic (you might see why the lead guy is the lead guy in this one too). In my opinion, they all work incredibly well together, which is very rare. The trio (sans bass and beatbox) have been best friends since high school.

I think the one I liked best was the Moves Like Jagger, which had the singer I liked do the lead and the blonde guy do Christina's part which was a combo I liked. I was expecting one of them to do the Gaga song too.

Do you know them?

Don't know them personally, but since I discovered them on the internet/youtube/facebook they don't feel like big time celebrities to me (but they will be soon). I know their story cause it's on some of their videos. I hope I don't sound like too much of a groupie!

Did you watch their gaga song?
 
I did, I watched a few of their videos. I liked Gaga but would have liked with a guy singing more. I could only imagine what would have happened though if you tell the girl she can't even sing the girl songs (should have seen me when the bassist in my band said he wanted to sing a song and then suggested two of our best). But the blonde guy did Christina's part in MLJ really really good.
 
THANK YOU!!! My daughters' were listening to Radio Disney this morning and they played the version of Little Drummer Boy by Justin Bieber. I almost jammed something in my ear. Thanks for helping me forget that other damn version.

Yeah, my wife was a huge American Idol fan so she was on the Kelly Clarkson bandwagon. I like some of her stuff but have only heard the hits (don't own any music of hers personally). Which is fine. This is a concert where I don't really know either one all that well, but I do know I will enjoy whatever they sing that night!

I think they did well, the problem is that the venue (Toyota Amphitheater in Wheatland, CA) doesn't play to their strengths and the microphones didn't seem to carry anyone's voices well on Friday night. They were good, though!!!

Uploading a couple short clips just in case you are interested (might be a bit until they are processed and ready to view). They were shot from far away with a cell phone (using a digital zoom), so the video/audio quality stinks. But you can tell the voices during their performance just weren't carrying to the lawn seats well. For Kelly Clarkson it was better, but still not as good as when we saw Brad Paisley there a couple months ago.

Yeah when I saw them live the acoustics weren't great. SO much of live music depends on the acoustics of the venue. Almost no venue was built specifically for acoustics, except places like the Convention Center, where I saw Willie Neslon, and he sounded like liquid gold from the first note to the last. Now that's a concert you don't want to have spoiled by bad acoustics. What a great venue. I also saw Bobby McFerrin there over 20 years ago. I'd love to see a Pentatonix concert in my living room. But they should also play the convention center. They could sell that out for sure.

Yeah, the Wheatland facility works for acts with amplified music, etc., but not so well for an acapella group.
 

I want to thank The Hammer again for bringing this group to my attention. They have brought me a lot of joy over the years. What a fantastic sound!
