Peja responds to trade talk

Kings fans in the area....tune to your local newcasts. Fox40 at 10:50, News10 at 11:20 etc...

I'm sure lots of members will have reports of it, including myself. On another note: Good for Peja. He knows this is all about him, nice to see him have the guts to face the media and answer their not so subtle questions

I'm cautiously optimistic, but we actually haven't heard him say anything yet.

I have two concerns: One, that he'll simply defer everything, saying he's a professional and has a contract, etc.

Two, that I won't be able to understand a word he says.

Reina? Are you going to do a transcript? I'm hoping the answer is yes, so I don't have to try and type and listen at the same time.

:D

Do we have a mumble interpreter at the ready?
 Too funny.

How about we make predictions about what he'll say. I say it'll go something like this: "I only do whatever I am told, I don't want to say what will happen, cause I don't know, it's out of my hands. These things are discussed in high places and it's not up to me what to do (wipes sweat from brow). I don't know what will be tomorrow, guess we'll see".

I know, albeitrue. I'd rather we wait for her, however, since she really does a good job with transcripts and we want to make sure it's as accurate as possible.

Absolutely, for all her work she deserves the role.

Jim Crandel says its not going to happen, that Petire told Peja personally that he is not going to be traded to LA

Reporter to Peja: Would you like to be traded before the deadline?

Peja: Thats not up to me you are asking the wrong guy.

Marty McNeal: I'm asking you, do you want to be traded?

Peja: Listen, I am here, I am a Kings player. And I am doing my job, playing basketball and I'm loving what I'm doing. And from that point, its not in my hands.

Reporter: Are you happy here, is it cool?

Peja: I'm here. I'm happy here.

Reporter: You are not looking to get traded?

Peja: Well, like I said, its not in my hands....We can keep going back and forth...[mumbles something. Really!] ;)

BTW, the reporter asking most of the questions was Marty McNeal from the Bee, who was really pushing to try to get Pedja to say he still wanted to be traded. Pedja did not fall into the trap.

:D

Ok, and I'll just say up front -- I don't really care what he said tonight.

For many people this is some sort of emotional issue. That's not the problem (or only exasperates it). The problem is a structural one. Our team is unbalanced, and in a way that has NEVER won an NBA championship. If Peja offered to mow the Maloofs lawn, it still wouldn't change the fact that we have too many shooters and not enough athletes or grunts.

Okay, I win the prediction: "It's out of my hands...". AND, did you see him wiping his brow as he was saying it? Hard to believe he didn't practice, he was sweating like a sieve!!!

Maybe he's going somewhere else, he seemed very tentative to answer any real questions. Maybe Petrie told him more than just "not going to LaLa Land".

Oh, thanks GAWD.
