Owners joining the huddle?

I've had this question for awhile so thought I would ask it in this thread rather than starting a new one.

When the league created the rule prohibiting owners from joining huddles, I think Cuban referred to it as his rule, I didn't understand how or why they would do that. Who cares? Anyhow, all of that aside, couldn't Cuban just designate himself as a coach and huddle with the team anyway?

Or did Avery request the rule to keep Cuban out?:D

Any knowledgeable response would be appreciated, this has had me wondering for some time now.

I went ahead and gave this its own thread, mco. That other thread was just way too old and not really about this in any way.

:)

Anything to keep Cuban away from any sort of attention being drawn to himself.

The Cuban Rule!

...But in seriousness, I agree with you...Who cares?

Having seen Mark Cuban make a total and complete arse of himself while disrespecting the Kings and Arco, I can make a pretty good guess why they made the rule.

You can't have a professional situation like that with the owner hanging oout in the huddle. This is still a basketball league, not Cuban's sadass amateur hour.

It's not quite the same thing as having Jerry Jones roaming the sidelines, because of a space issue.
To me, it doesn't make much sense. You can get just as much with a microphone and camera, which is pretty much available for every game, so I don't see why you need to be there. It would be like your boss looking over your shoulder at every moment. Granted, your boss would more likely have other things to do, but the point stands.
However, Cuban can still sit courtside and make an arse of himself regardless of the rule. :D
