Our lottery hopes according to schedule

Bench
Here are the teams in the run for a high pick. Looking at the schedules, my lottery order is:

(as of March 10, 2009)

# 1
Clippers: http://www.nba.com/clippers/schedule/index.html
Projected wins = 3
Min wins = 2
Max wins = 4
Probable final record = 18 - 64

#1 – Tie!
Washington: http://www.nba.com/wizards/schedule/index.html
Projected wins = 3
Min wins = 1
Max wins = 4
Probable final record = 18 – 64

#3
Memphis: http://www.nba.com/grizzlies/schedule/
Projected wins = 3
Min wins = 2
Max wins = 4
Probable final record = 19 - 63

#4
Kings: http://www.nba.com/kings/schedule/
Projected wins = 6
Min wins = 4
Max wins = 10
Probable final record = 20 - 62

#4 - Another tie!
Oklahoma City: http://www.nba.com/thunder/#/schedule/gameschedule
Projected wins = 3
Min wins = 2
Max wins = 4
Probable final record = 20 - 62

#6
Minnesota: http://www.nba.com/timberwolves/schedule/index.html
Projected wins = 3
Min wins = 1
Max wins = 4
Final record = 21 - 61

What do you think? I'd say at best we'll be 3rd. Our schedule is the easiest from here on out. We could drop as low as 8th. And then with some more bad luck a couple of teams could drop into the top 3 and push us back some more.... Ugg. :(

#4
Kings: http://www.nba.com/kings/schedule/
Projected wins = 6
Min wins = 4
Max wins = 10
Probable final record = 20 - 62

I think our max win total is very generous.

OK seems to have the hardest schedule= 3 bottom contenders plus Toronto

Kings have the easiest=5 bottom contenders plus NY & 2 with GSW

The rest go hardest to easiest = Wash, Mem, Min, Clips

All 6 teams could end up within 1 game of each other, depending on how the matches between each other go. There are 11 games between the bottom 6 teams.

But, if the Kings lose all 5 contests to the bottom contenders, they pretty much control their own destiny. If they win them all, they probably end up tied for 5th worst record. They probably need to lose at least 2 of the 5 games to have a chance for the worst record.

My best guess= OK,Min with 20 wins
Kings, Mem, Cips with 19 wins
Wash, with 18 wins

As terrifying as it is, I don't think the OP is too far off in her/his predictions. There are far too many games against other bottom dwellers left in this schedule. Even if the Kings manage to lose to Oklahoma and Washington, there are still games against Memphis, GS (twice, and they are in full tank mode), the Clippers and Minnesota left. Scary, very scary. If the Kings don't step their tanking game up, this schedule may become an absolute nightmare.

Some of you I think have been missing how much better, or at least harder, we have been playing since the trades. Think I've only broken out the pretty girls once. We are a stupid franchise, always have been. Its not at all out of the question for us to magnificently pull out the 20 win season, while our idiot TV announcers crow about how its a good thing and look at those signs of progress and all the other vomit they spew. There is a real danger here that after a long brutal arena clearing season of pure suck, that we screw up at the end and don't even get our just reward for such a thing. That, BTW, was one of the ways how the bad ole days Kings managed to stay bad year after year.

I do not want to think about the possibility of having to endure this horrid season and then come away without a top 3 pick! That would just be wrong. It's already a weak draft to begin with. With the Denver game, they proved that they are a better team after the trades. Now they just need to go back to losing! All they have to do is sit Nocioni or come up with a mysterious illness.

I'd like to see how a front line of Booth, Simmons and KT would do.

Come on, Natt, do it for the franchise!

While at the same time resting Bobby for the year, so that his poor old body doesn't have to endure any more physical beatings? Just so that Solomon can play 48 minutes a game? Sounds like a solide plan to me.

Who does he thinks we are, the Bobcats? I'd be shocked if we win 4 games the rest of the way.

Well I did say minimum 4 games... but did you actually LOOK at our schedule??? 6 wins can't be that far off:

More than likely we'll win (..especially if these teams are tanking):
Oklahoma - at home < March 10
Washington - 1st game of a road trip < March 15
Memphis - at home < March 27
Golden State - at home, besides we'll win 1 of the 2 games left with them < April 5
Clippers - on road, but these guys will tank < April 10
Minnesota - on road, plan for them tanking < April 15

And this doesn't count the joy our guys will get playing spoilers for upper teams... we could sneak 1 or 2 Lins in (like the Denver game).

Not to mention we have a total of 10 games at home. We're doomed if upper management doesn't put the brakes on Kenny Natt RIGHT NOW PLEASE!!!..

Nice summary, D13, and goes quite nicely with the countdown to the lottery fnordius has been keeping...

:)

As far as Kenny Natt goes, he's in just about the worst possible position unless TPTB come right out and announce they're going to be "resting" players or whatever terminology they want to use.

If he coaches to win, the lottery people are going to be furious. If he coaches to lose, the people who pay hard-earned money to sit in those seats and the fans who don't really subscribe to or understand the "Sherman" mentality will be equally furious.

The ONE thing the Kings have never had to claim are phantom injuries. Be very careful what you wish for...

;)

Here's what I see when I look at the Kings objectively: They won 4, yes 4 road games ALL YEAR! The Kings average less than one road victory a month.

So I just cannot grasp how they're going to win 3 out of 9 road games the rest of the season. Even if against subpar teams who are tanking.

Also consider that OKC has been playing MUCH better without Durrant (who can't play defense worth a lick). Washington is tough to beat at home (er, at least for a bottom feeder like us) and they're still playing Jamison and Butler. As for the T-Wolves, do not underestimate the emotional lift of playing their last home game in front of rowdy fans. That game will not be an easy victory as our players will be thinking vacation spots and the T-Wolves will be thinking nothing but a victory in front of their supporters.

So Memphis, GS, and Clippers are teams we may beat.

Plus, I can't imagine that BJax can play 30+ mins every game and not break down soon. Nor do I think that the medical staff will alllow Garcia to play with those taped fingers for the rest of the season. My guess is, once Beno comes back, Garcia will go on rest and Bjax will be back to playing bench mins. And good luck beating anybody with Beno at the PG and no Garcia. Not to mention KMart will be selved by the season's end, imo.

I just don't see how the Clippers will end up with a better record than the Kings. They are a disgrace to the NBA, to basketball, to sports, to mankind. They WILL find a way to be the worst in the NBA.

Believe me,... I reeeeeeeeeally do hope you're right...

Kenny Natt is unwilling to play Donte Green more than 3 to 5 token minutes in the meaningless 2nd quarter of ball games, because he is so desperate to earn a new contract.

The way we keep from winning is to initiate Operation: Court Time Donte, with direct orders from Geoff Petrie and the Maloofs, get my man Donte out there for 30 minutes a game, see what he can do, and we will lose by 20 points to the Warriors and OKCs of the league.

Also, we love Garcia for gritty determination to play with broken finger. Now, take the rest of the year off, buddy.

Also, do we know what Calvin Booth can do??? I think we need that answer to the tone of 20 minutes/game.

In addition, K-Mart rest your injuries (sprained ankle, assorted bruises.) and get ready for 2010.

Also, Jason Thompson has played in every game. Well....nevermind, the more he plays, the less difference he makes along with the fouls he never commits.

Seriously, winning games is the worst thing possible for this franchise since John Salmons.

NO MORE WINS!!!!!!!!!

I want that top pick as much as everyone else, but Thompson and Hawes need to play and they need to share the court with Kevin. That's the future of this team. I really don't understand why Donte can't get 15 minutes a game though. Any other team in the league with our record would be playing Donte 15 minutes a game right now, I'm convinced of that.

we need to shut down kev and play the youngsters/new guys who havnt found any court time. Word needs to come down from upper management

Numbers for those matchups:
Sac on the road, 4-28, versus...
Washington, 10-23 at home. Advantage: Wiz
Clippers, 8-26 at home. Advantage: LAC
Minnesota, 9-24 at home. Advantage: T-pups

Sac at home, 10-22, versus...
Memphis, 4-26 road. Advantage: Sac
GSW, 6-27 road. Advantage: Sac

We still have an excellent chance of finishing in the top 3, we just have to break past precedent and not be too stupid this year. No last-second woss in Minny like that accursed woss vs. the Clippers a couple of years ago, etc.

Please, FO, let's be smart for a change.
