Favorite Memories

There are so many.

Laser passes - DC is responsible for at least 10 % of pts Pedja scored in his NBA career.

A game in SA several years back. He had like 10 steals. Kings killed Spurs.

One Lakers game also several years back - he scored 30 + pts

Rick Fox  :D ;)

PO game in Dallas. Came back one one leg and won a game.

:( doug's heart on the court really inspired me to strive for my goals in life. I remember the playoff where he got injured and came back to play and won the game-PURE HEART. I will deeply miss you.

That's one fine highlight reel. I will also remember fondly DC showing up every night and working hard and providing lots of moments that are not as highlight real worthy as your list but moments that helped the team immensly never the less.

As for Rick FOx episode: I do not condone violence of any kind, but DC emasculating Rick Fox without inflicting any permanent physical damage is a humanitarian gesture in the eyes of any true basketball fan.

You found your home in sactown and if we dont win it we will know why because of you were the glue that held the kings together.you wont be forgotten and once again i wanna say thank you and i wish you the best of luck.in my eyes u r the definition of SACTOWNS FINEST

Wow, and I thought I was upset before!! Great thread-

Doug -

Thank you for showing NBA fans what PASSION means, and what it means to NEVER GIVE UP! You have inspired your teammates to play above and beyond because you have demonstrated what it means to give your all. You have played with your heart and soul, and as fans, we have loved you in the same way. Thank you for the wonderful years! You will never be forgotten, and the Kings will never be quite the same without you.

This is one of those time where stat don't matter. We'll miss you DC.

"At halftime, I was standing beside Peja (Stojakovic) and said, “This is going to be your half. You’re a shooter, this is what you do. And if you miss it, I will go down fighting with you.” Then, they started falling (in the second half). From there, you started to see a different Peja Stojakovic."

"(On the last play)
I went to Peja and you saw the end result. And you’re going to live and die with Peja, with Chris (Webber) and with Mike (Bibby). That was a foul there."

I always defended DC from the criticism he got from MANY Kingsfans years back and presently on this forum. He was an integral part of what we were doing for the past 5-6 years. However, it feels like with the departure of Vlade Divac, Doug Christie's role on the team also took a hit. He was never the same defensive presence, and the almost "J-Will like" passing ability that we have seen so many times last year was all but invisible this year. I think the Kings management felt that Doug was getting older, and that any decent offer for him should be taken. Today, the Kings team as we know it lost its most fearless warrior and a big piece of its heart.

I have been a Kings fan for several years but I live in Detroit. Its been sad seeing so many of the players I love not playing with the Kings anymore. I will miss your defensive enthusiasm and timely baskets. I almost cried when I heard the news, but I was too shocked. I just bought tickets to see the Orlando vs Detroit on Friday. I will be there cheering you and Hedo on. Good luck in Orlando Doug, I'll miss you. Thanks for all of your hard work in Sacramento.
P.S. I hope your plantar fasciitisgets better.

My feelings of #13:

Full range of emotion in 0 to 5 seconds, and now just sadness.

DC the Professional, going to Orlando.

When you wondered how to take Chris's comments, or Peja's heavy accent or all the "you knows" of Mike, Doug was always the heart of the matter type of interviews.

He was the Ying of Defense to the Yang of everyone else's offense.

The punch saw around the world from a guy more known for his wife.

Happier even more when he actually scored 10+ points.

The family man all the rest looked up to for advice.

No more GTC.

DC the Professional going to Orlando.

...the wife and I were driving home from work one day at about 5:15pm on a warm spring day westbound on I-80. Saw a big black mercedes coming up behind me in the fast lane. It was J. Will. Turned my head and waved. He saw me and ignored me. Following him was D.C. and Jackie in a white Porsche. I turned again and waved again. Both waved at us with big grins. Doug slowed along side me. I rolled my window down and yelled out "Go get em Doug!" The both smiled and gave me the thumbs up and he a Jackie waved goodbye. It wasn't much but it was alot to me and my wife. Never forgot it. Never will. We'll miss you Doug.
First Vlade...and now Doug. They say change is a good thing. I'm not so sure...

Dear Doug,

Thanx for all the heart and hustle and effort and character you gave to make Sacramento an elite NBA competitor. You've been my favorite King for a long time, so today is particularly difficult for me. But please know that you have touched more of us than you ever will know in more ways than you can imagine.

Best of luck to you and yours in Orlando.

For the record, I want to encourage everyone to continue to post their thoughts here.

I'm planning on sending a transcript of the entire thread to Doug c/o the Orlando Magic.

:D
