OPEN LETTER to Doug Christie

Thank you for the excitement, the dedication, the heart and the desire you've given to the Sacramento Kings for the past 4 1/2 years.

We couldn't have asked for anything more. You've been an incredible asset to the Kings and we're going to miss you. You've shown what it means to give it all to the team and you helped teach some of the new ones what being part of a TEAM is all about.

I can remember a lot of great things you did during your time as a Sacramento King, but the one thing that stands out the most was when you re-entered a game after being injured because Pedja had gone down and couldn't play. That kind of heart doesn't happen too often in the NBA.

Thank you, Doug Christie. You WILL be greatly missed.

Sincerely,
A Kings fan

GTC, I have been saddened by many trades since 1985, but none more than this one. You are an incredible person, who plays with more heart and determination than anyone else I can think of.

Take care of yourself. I wish you and your family well.

Thanks for starting this thread, VF.

I'm going to miss you, Doug. Thanks for all the hard work you've done. :( You were one of the toughest Kings player and the team will be different without you.

Good luck in Orlando and I wish you well.

I am crying now.
Goodbye Doug. Kings fan will miss you. And I will follow you where ever you go.
Wish you are not feeling as bad as we do... all the best.

Doug...your defense and selflessness will be missed more than ever, and even though you wern't the same player this year as in previous years, we all appreciated you're tenacity, none the less. May you prosper in the eastern conference once again, as you did in Toronto. Bye for now, take us in your hearts...we are both one of a kinds...Kings fans, and you, Doug. The best to you, Jackie, and the rest of the Christie family.

Dear DC

I don't know what to say. Don't worry, I won't say "I will miss you" or "Good Luck" because I will follow you wherever you go. I am your fan forever.

I can not believe this. I was bidding next monday's Kings @ Clippers tickets yesterday; I was planning to go Sacramento during the spring break; I was saving money to buy more and more Kings items; I was not EXPECTING A TRADE.

Kings........I don't want to think about Kings now. I just...I just...

Just give me several hours and Kleenex. I believe I'll still love the Kings after tonight.

I don't know what to say. I met this guy a couple times, his family was awesome. Their kids more than friendly...

They were supposed to have a TV show coming out...

But hey. I will always remember that punch you gave to Mr. Rick Fox.

Thank you for the memories.

This is just part of the Biz. All of us Kings fans will miss DC and wish him the best and give him Standing O's everytime he comes here. Truely one of the players that made us what we are today... an elite team.

DC you will be missed by all and as a fan I just have to say 2 words

Thank You.

That was well written, VF. I'm sorry I didn't get to see him play more because from what I have seen, he was fun to watch (from my point of view).
Good luck, Doug! You will be missed.

Another one who will not get a chance to retire as a King.

First Vlade and now Doug. Buissness of NBA can really suck sometimes.

At least there will be another standing ovation on March 15th.

When I saw the news, I was surprised and then sad because I seriously didn't want him to go and then felt kinda frustrated and just short of devastated. I feel a sense of loss that will never be replaced again.

One of the things I always look for in people is PASSION, and I loved Doug's for the game. I seriously didn't think I'd see him donning another uniform, but now that he will be, I will still be supporting him and loving that same passion and intensity.

I'm not even going to take him out of my avatar. :( Ok now I'm crying.

You will most certainly be missed, Doug. I salute you for your heart, your dedication, and most of all, your passion. I often saw you as an oncourt warrior (forgive the term), always ready to do battle when it's called for, ready to stand up to anyone when it's needed, ready to defend your keep, and ready to take a bullet for the team. I take my hat off to you and no matter where your feet take you, you will always have my respect, support, and admiration. Thank you.
