ONE-HANDED DOMAS AND THE KENTUCKY CATS

Sabonis feels appreciated the way the offense is build to feature his skill set. That was missing in Indiana. He will sign.

Another good point on top of everything else. He's currently the focal offensive weapon and is in the midst of a career year under Brown and with the Kings. I think a good chunk of his frustration with Indy was they never truly viewed him as their franchise player while splitting time at his actual position with Turner. And as we've seen so far this year, he's absolutely capable of being the engine of an elite offense (Kings still top 5 in ORtg, 33 games into the year).

So, having the respect of an organization to properly value you has to mean something I imagine

Fox reminds me of Bibby at the end of games. I just have no fear when he launches in the clutch

I’m sure it’s probably just me, but the way Swipa’s game has developed — some of his calm, smooth moves in and around the basket in order to get mid range shots and layups eerily reminds of Kobe Bryant. Albeit a 6’3 version of him.

And, no, I’m not suggesting he’s near as good or a HOF’er like Kobe, but rather just comparing his calm demeanor, confidence and smoothness in doing what he’s doing. He looks so fluid and under control.

I don't even want to say their names in the same sentence but anyway...

Kobe used to drive me nuts by hitting those contested fadeaway baseline shots that nobody in their right business should even be shooting. Fox has developed a "why" signature of his own with that 12 foot floating middy he has. No place for that in the modern NBA and yet he's getting to be automatic with it.

Feels like the natural progression of middy to me. As they are deemed the least favorable shots these days, it just drove these middy magicians into shooting only at their favorite spots to maximize its high percentage like it was a lay-up.

Apparently multiple people in our candidate search knew what Sabonis was capable of so the question is why didn't Indy?
I think the idea that Turner is an ideal big for todays NBA still has a hold on Indy(it's slipping away slowly) and that had Domas guarding a lot quicker PF which made him look a lot less capable on D then he really is.Also Brogdon preferred to slow the offense down and Domas obviously thrives in a fast pace offence. The guy before Carlisle (I forget the spelling of his last name) tried to make Domas the offensive hub but still had Turner playing a C.Pacers actually had 4 or 5 best record in the East before injuries (Warren, Brogdon, Dipo on and off) derailed that season even so they did made a play in.

The latest spin I saw on that front was CBS Sports comparing Haliburton to a Ferrari and Sabonis to a tractor.

Their reasoning: while the Ferrari is far more valuable and objectively better at winning the Indy 500 (NBA Championship), all the simple, unsophisticated yokels of Sacramento (farmers, not socialites) really want is the tractor to plow their way into a one-and-done playoff spot to be happy.

Link: The metaphor is as strained as it is insulting.

It might be the right metaphor but the wrong conclusion. Maybe Haliburton is a Ferrari but we already have a different Ferrari parked in the garage (Fox) and Sabonis is a tractor but our garage is currently attached to an empty lot where we one day hope our home will be. Would you rather have two Ferraris in a garage on an empty lot or one Ferrari in the garage and a house to live in?

The laziness is in assuming that the Ferrari is somehow innately better than the tractor when they quite clearly just excel at different tasks. We needed a vehicle (player) who would pound all day in the mud without getting tired and lift 10x his body weight and that sure as hell isn't going to be a Ferrari. Haliburton currently leads the league in APG this season and Sabonis currently leads the league in RPG. In terms of overall value and impact on winning, they've been almost identical just with different strengths in different areas. Both deserve to be All-Stars and anybody who's watched the Kings at all the last few years can see how significant Sabonis' contribution has been to this early season success.

Any trade has to be evaluated in context. Haliburton is going to be a free agent the same year that Sabonis is. Yes he'll be restricted but we have Sabonis' bird rights which is a significant advantage in contract negotiation so that's a wash too. This franchise has spent 16 years shuffling deck chairs trying and failing to put a team together that can win even 50% of their games. I don't really care how good we might be 5 years from now with Haliburton and some future superstar lotto pick we could some day draft if we continue to lose despite failing to do that with 95% of our past draft picks. Give me the damn tractor and let's just get on with building on what we have now.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Domantas Sabonis fractured his right thumb five days ago. Surgery is the cleanest route to fixing it. But that procedure, discussed behind the scenes in the last 72 hours, is attached to a four- to six-week absence, per a league source with knowledge of the situation. That means Sabonis would miss somewhere around 20 games.
Exceptional article, thanks for posting this. Shows again how much Sabonis is enjoying his time here and how much he values this team and what we are trying to do. Hope he doesn't too carried away and hurt his thumb even more mind lol, but sure he is smart enough to not let that be an issue going forward. You can tell how much Fox admires him also not just by the comment mentioned above, but just their interactions in general.

Love that he is a King and hope he is here for a long, long time. My most favorite player since Peja.

I think by putting off surgery he risks it not healing on its own but it probably won't get worse.

I am not a doctor I just help train them to be nice to their patients :D

You are doing god’s work. Maybe sneak in some lessons on being nice to EMTs and medics while you’re at it.

I feel an affinity for your username.

My center does a lot of work with EMTs and medics for certification trainings but they don't often work with the standardized patient program.

We are however adding the school of dentistry to our client list this term! Very exciting as I've only recently gotten over some of my own anxieties with dentists.

Fox at the elbow is automatic. Crazy for a guard.
