ONE-HANDED DOMAS AND THE KENTUCKY CATS

How can anyone say we lost the Hali trade.

The latest spin I saw on that front was CBS Sports comparing Haliburton to a Ferrari and Sabonis to a tractor.

Their reasoning: while the Ferrari is far more valuable and objectively better at winning the Indy 500 (NBA Championship), all the simple, unsophisticated yokels of Sacramento (farmers, not socialites) really want is the tractor to plow their way into a one-and-done playoff spot to be happy.

Link: The metaphor is as strained as it is insulting.

Media types have to keep spinning this in creative different ways so that they are right. Meanwhile the Kings are enjoying winning and watching Domas put up historical type numbers.

I don't have a problem with people saying Indiana has more long term upside, but that one is ridiculous. That might not happen until 5 years from now, and so much can happen in between.

Fantastic performance from all 3 guys. Being a Tar Heel fan myself, despised both Monk and Fox when they were in college haha, but love them now of course. Way to bring out the best in each other and their teammates also.

Ok but I'm talking about the insta memes. I don't even care about on the court :D

The analogy is messed up for several reasons:

Ferraris can't off-road. They just look pretty and go fast.

2 seater? GTFO.

What vehicle is going to do the heavy lifting? That's right, the tractor.

In a tug-of-war, the tractor, hands down.

If Domas is a tractor, why is he parked under a purple beam? I though only fancy rides park there. So, by this logic, Domas MUST be the Ferrari, for he parks under a purple beam. At the very least, he's a Dodge Charger. 1968 with a 426 HEMI. Sleek, sexy, and a beast under the hood.

Maybe Haliburton is a souped up Honda. He's gonna win you some games, and the spoiler is kinda fancy. There's a small subset of the population that goes crazy for you, but the larger population just doesn't see the draw.

IDK, I don't think Domas is a tractor, because they plod. Jokic plods, and he's a 2x MVP, sooo...maybe, a tractor ain't so bad.

Obviously Sabonis is only here through 2024 until he signs an extension but if Webber was a casino bet, I really don't think Sabonis is worse odds than buying a total market mutual fund. He seems to enjoy it here, there's a family bond forming, his wife loves California, and it seems more intent on proving himself as a player than collecting media accolades. There's a lot of players for whom Sacramento is a great fit and Sabonis seems like one of them.

I just don't by the "one and done to break the drought" playoff mantra. He's the 2022 era version of Vlade. If the Kings high powered offense was a sports car and Fox is the sleek body that wows everyone who sees it, Sabonis is the engine that makes it go fast.

There's no tractor despite all the Fox and the Ox talk, this is a fast paced sexy machine.

Sabonis feels appreciated the way the offense is build to feature his skill set. That was missing in Indiana. He will sign.
