Well if you haven't seen it Reggie is not happy about the Artest trade...

http://www.kingsfans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=28361

Well this was the breaking point for me. If he seriously wanted Artest to be the "GO TO GUY" and a main piece to build this team around then he's just as crazy as Artest and we should trade Reggie to the Rockets for Rick A. back...

talk about a serious RED FLAG HERE! Reggie like Artest just doesn't seem to get it. Im all for giving him some room for error. But the mistakes are pilling up and this is a young team that needs a solid leader/teacher not an ego driven coach that has no ability to control himself.

He made his mistakes... Pulling Kevin Martin off the floor a bunch of times during the season for no apparent reason... he called out players via media time and time again... then at the end of the season said he had learned from his mistakes only to turn around and slap Kevin Martin in the face by praising Artest for his ball hogging heroics at the end of games, and then questioning Kevin Martin's clutchness, even though Kevin Martin has hit just as many game winners.

KEVIN MARTIN IS THE FRANCHISE PLAYER! and Reggie has had the most problems with him... this is a serious problem guys! Kevin Martin is a stand up guy and wont drop himself to Reggie's level. He's taken the high road and
said all the right things about Reggie, and that things are ok but that doesn't mean that things are actually ok.

After Muss, Artest, and Reggie im over the drama... and im sure so are the players. Reggie like Artest cant even go a few months without saying something detrimental to the team, and if he doesn't stop he needs to be out of here... unless he proves me otherwise.... I expect he will keep it up and if thats the case then i'd like to see him fired halfway through the season and have Kenny Natt take over.

I think Reggie's not that great of a coach... he showed some serious lapses with managing timeouts, personal, and over all game management...

Plus questioning the front office is way out of line... When was the last time you heard Greg Pop question the spurs front office?

Shut up and do your job Reggie or like Artest peace out homie!

The Newsday article just says he was unhappy about the trade, or rtaher sources say he was unhappy. I think that is very likely true. But that alone is not going to get him fired. Now his ego might. But this sort of report in a paper isn't going to do it.

So barring a Ronesque meltdown, Theus will be the coach to start the season. Now he may or may not be the coach to end the season -- Geoff is painfully stubborn about midseason firings, but its not hard to construct a scenario where his hand is forced. But in any case Theus is the coach until he's not. A "fire Theus!" thread over a blurb in a New York paper is a bit extreme.

This is a pointless thread. The Kings aren't going to fire Theus for a couple of reasons.

1) The team is young and we aren't competing for anything. There is no need to bring in a big name coach and over pay him right now

2) The Kings aren't going to pay another coach to go away. He's going to at least finish out this upcoming year

If Kevin is the new "franchise player", we are in serious trouble. The new and dynamic team leader? Hmmm.

We have not yet seen the Kings new franchise player. In fact, we have not had a so-called "franchise player"since Chris Weber, assuming of course that Chris was one.

Lets celebrate and get excited when Lebron James, Chris Paul, or Kobi Bryant comes to town.

I'm not ready to call for Theus' job ... not even close really. He's very competative and the team just gave away (one of) our best player(s) without getting a Josh Howard or Shawn Marion-type in return as was rumored.

His ego disturbes me, but I still feel much more comfortable with him at the helm than Muss. And I think he's more so expressing his respect for Ron's game than anything else.

Then again, I think I'm still clinging to my own niavity in hoping once all the young talent is arranged, Theus will actually enjoy getting his hands dirty and building the team from the ground up.

first off i think i speak for most everyone here in that you can keep your Kobe Bryant... I don't ever wanna see him in a Kings jersey...

Let me just say this about my post....

Im still willing to give Reggie a chance! I just think he will blow it and will not be back next year... and so far after his latest vent through the media he obviously hasn't learned his lesson and probably never will. the differences between Petrie and Reggie are becoming more and more an issue and this when it comes down to it is PETRIE'S TEAM...

Im willing to give Reggie a chance i'd like to see him prove me wrong, but his history is telling me he wont

I have liked Reggie from the get go; he is cocky and flashy, but has a real understanding of the NBA game and what makes individual players and teams successful. I just remember listening to the podcast when he was hired and all he seemed to talk about was the need for veteran players to cut weight every season. I thought he was crazy, but it worked, especially for Brad Miller.

Do I like all of his tactics? No. He has a lot to learn, but at least he cares about the Kings winning games. I see why he would be upset about losing Artest; he won a lot of games for the Kings with his contributions and it will be more difficult to win without him in the short term. So Reggie being upset is reasonable.

Do I care if Reggie is upset? No. He is the coach and his sole focus is winning games, Geoff takes care of putting the right pieces in place down the road and making strategic moves to benefit the Kings long term and Reggie tries to win games; this can easily put a GM and Coach at odds with each other, but who really cares; it is just how it is with all teams, Reggie just likes to see his name in print as much as possible.

Bottom line: Reggie wants to win. The fans want the Kings to win. Geoff wants to win, eventually. And Reggie's actions in the press have not detracted from that over-powering common goal, I think they have helped.

It's like the crazy didn't leave with Ron.

We're getting all hot and bothered over what's being blogged? Come on, now. Yeah, Theus should be a little ticked, as any new coach would be in dealing with the fact that his win/loss record isn't going to be too hot over the next two years. Especially due to the fact that he does have an ego.

Anybody writing a blog can figure that angle. No quotes, or anything. Someone give me something with substance.

There is nothing wrong with Ego considering every single player who ever played pro sports has one. Reggie has not done anything to deserve being fired.

Avery Johnson is available.

Just sayin'.......

And I'm listenin'. ;)

That has been tantalizing since it happened. But he's still out there, and I doubt its because there was no interest. He must either want some time off, a whole bunch of money, or a perfect situation. Unfortunately I doubt we can really offer any of those.

I'm definitely against firing Reggie. Any coach is going to want to win, and quite honestly, we do not know the validity and/or actual words that were said.

I think Reggie has done a great job with the players he has been given. Last year, the team showed great preparation and actually played competitively. I'd hope that as fans we could wait until the season starts to begin the whole "calling for his head" thing.

I will say that I'm predicting that the Bee will do its best to get Theus fired this season, deserved or not.

Yes sir you are right on that. I really HATE that amick lady she writes the most ridiculous things. Did you catch that article she wrote about Brad after the dope suspensions?

Good grief. Hello? There are NO direct quotes to substantiate that blog, which says at the most "Reggie Theus IS SAID..." blah, blah, blah.

Some of you really need to get a grip. Of course, this could work to my benefit. I have some great land in Florida I'd love to sell you at a really good price.

You know, at this point having TWO threads is just silly. I'm closing this one since the other has more active discussion.

:)
