Omri Casspi the kings barometer

Well... When coach Malone was in charge, Casspi was the 6th man, played just great
And the team was stable.

Was it necessary to bench a good SF, stabilized, that score more than 53% FG wise!! with decent bb IQ, good teammate, that shows a good defense and energy.
and more than all, with him playing, the team was an optional PO team.

How many SF do we have in the league that scored that well and played that well this year?
It's not like the Kings have other SF that shoot the ball with 60% success.

If he does that good what he do, wouldn't it be good to the team, that he would do much more of that?! (Simple equation).

Where is Mr. Ty?

Just a reminder that Omri had a severe left knee bone contusion that kept him out of a number of games. I don't think it's completely fair to say that he was benched.

Having said that however, I do agree that he is much more stable and reliable than Dwill, who seems to have taken his minutes recently.

If Omri would just hit an outside shot once in a while I'd be quite satisfied with him as backup SF. Whatever happened to his 3 point shooting?

I think his 3 point shooting was just really lucky at the time. His FT% was always pretty bad so I never got the impression he was a capable shooter.

Lucky?
Can you really stay lucky all the way through 870 attempts in 5 NBA seasons?
Casspi's career 3pt percentage before this season has been 35.1% (306/870), and that decent % is his actual capability - no more, no less.

His low percentage this year is simply for lack of attempts (17...!).
Shooters must shoot and keep shooting to get their shots falling.

He's hovered around 35% taking more than 2.5 attempts a game in 4 of his last 5 seasons. I'd hardly call that just really lucky. This season he's attempting 0.5 a game and shooting 18% (but small sample size with only 17 total attempts). Maybe he can only be decent at FTs or 3s but never both?

I like Omri's aggressive take to the hole. He is good at it and scores or gets fouled at a high clip. be nice to see the three if it is there, though sometimes its best to stay in a lane if it is working for you.

Casspi was great last night against the Cavaliers, I was able to watch the game and after a scoreless first quarter where Casspi missed two shots and he turned things around in the second half and didn't miss any shot from the field, he was also very decent from the line scoring 5/6 from there.

I enjoy watching Casspi attacking the paint and going all the way to the rim, he also excels in making contact and drawing fouls, and he hits his free-throw shots in a very high rate, he is very efficient...

I really hope there is no sign of an injury to slow his pace down again because you can tell it affected him and also affected the team in general, I hope coach Corbin will have more faith in Casspi because as you mentioned before in his tenure under coach Malone Casspi was the sixth man of the bench for the Kings and was fulfilling his role really well, I hope Casspi will receive more minutes and will be able to put some decent numbers in favor.

I bet Omri gets traded this season his value to contract is good and playoff teams would like to add him make their run.
