Want a chance to watch the future?

The 2nd annual T-Mobile High School Basketball Invitation begins later this week and brings 4 top girls and boys high school basketball teams together for a two day tournament. This year's event will be held in Albuquerque, NM and will again be aired live on the Versus network (and replayed on the tournament website)

Last year's tournament featured somebody I might have mentioned once or twice...Maya Moore...(seriously people ). Although not packing the star power of last year by hosting the #1 team in the country with the national player of the year on it, the field this year is pretty darn good.

California's Long Beach Poly (USA Today's #4 team in their national ranking) fresh off its title win in the prestigious Nike Tournament of Champions heads the field, with a 6'0" wing (and future Rutgers Scarlet Knight and current Nike TOC MVP) Jasmine Dixon....followed by another USA Today top 25 team (#14) out of Hampton, Virgina lead by their junior point guard Tiffany Davis who notched a quadruple double (be still my heart...) with 33pts/10reb/10ast/11stls a year ago on her way to leading her team to a state title.

Rounding out the field is Ohio's Chaminade Julienne, and their point guard headed to Louisville Tiera Stephen and New Mexico's Gallup High School - a team that travels a few thousand fans....

Here are the airdates and anticipated times for the girls games live airings. I believe they will repeat throughout the weekend as well.

Hampton, Hampton, VA vs Gallup, Gallup NM
1pm Friday, Dec 28th


Championship game: Saturday, Dec 29th 1pm

out of Hampton, Virgina lead by their junior point guard Tiffany Davis who notched a quadruple double (be still my heart...) with 33pts/10reb/10ast/11stls a year ago on her way to leading her team to a state title.

She was a sophmore when she did this?

I'm not sure about Comcast, but it is a channel in the sports pack for DirectTV and I would presume Dish as well. I'm presently in TimeWarner country and it's a channel in their digital package.

If its not in your tier of channels locally they are re-broadcasting the games on the web immediately after they air on TV and I'm guessing they'll be available for a while thereafter too.

The Championship Game will indeed match the top two seeds in this tourney in an interesting contrast in styles.

Long Beach Poly will face Hampton - run/gun vs nasty lockdown defense team...(where have we seen this? ) Hampton kept control of their game despite the loss of their point guard/defensive juggernaut Tiera Stephen to foul trouble early in the first half. Chaminade and LBP locked up in a great battle and made LBP work to win this game. But in the end, too much Dixon and too much Oliver.
