NBA tells Vince Carter to stop listening to iPod during warmups
November 16, 2004

NEW YORK (AP) -- Vince Carter has to listen to his favorite tunes on his own time.

The Toronto Raptors star was informed by the NBA that he no longer can listen to music on his iPod during the 20-minute warmup period before each game. Carter recently started listening to the music on his headphones, a violation of the league's rules on proper attire.

When the NBA heard about it, the league called the Raptors. ``We informed them that he can no longer do that,'' NBA spokesman Brian McIntyre said Tuesday. Carter has said he listens to the music in order to focus before a game.

What about Duncan? He was doing the same last week. Or maybe it was before the "official" 20 minute warmup?

Ya, waaaay weak rule in my opinion.

Hey maybe VC can just have the arena music turned up a little bit and changed to his ipod playlist.

Edited of course. ;)

I think this is a preventative rule. The problem may not be the ipod itself so much as keeping a very ridged interpetation of what is acceptable atire for warm up. This is a way to avoid a slipery slope type situation where if we alow the ipod what do we do about hats? or personalized clothing and so on and so on. Not defending the rule just offering a possible explination.

Maybe they objected because he was listening to a bootleg copy of Artest's new CD?
