[NFL] NFL Thread (26-27)

You know, I'm trying to be open-minded but when the 49ers trade back, trade back, trade back and then draft the same 3 positions they always draft (and most of those WR, EDGE, RB picks in the top half of the draft have been busts) and on top of that they reach way down the board on all three of them... well, this better work because if things go south I will be among the many pointing at this 2026 draft as the moment where this front office began to wear out their welcome.

Looks like Stribling was one of the biggest late risers in the class. Had to turn down visits with the interest he was getting. Dane Brugler (one of the top "public" draft guys) was pretty confident he'd go top 64, just wasn't sure how high.

Seems like a damn near 1 for 1 replacement for Jennings with a 4.36 on top of it. Pretty universal he's the best blocking WR, has a great mentality and approach. YAC guy.
Yeah he looks faster than Jennings, but not as good a route runner (yet).

Neglect OL and CB - the usual.....their secondary draft scouts suck.

I don't have a problem with the Stribling pick. A bit of a reach, he might have been there at #58 but if you like the guy that much, why take a chance. It's just the general lack of attention paid to what has been a flaming disaster of an Offensive Line for the last 3 years in a row which continues to bother me, but it is what it is. After they traded down at #27 it was obvious they weren't taking an OT. Trent Williams is going to be wheeled onto the field with bolts coming out of his neck like Frankenstein's monster pretty soon and he'll still be better than the other 4 dudes starting with him.
Williams has equal chance not to play even half the season at his age and wear-and-tear

My hot takes after only seeing one min highlight reels:

Stupid pick position wise but Stribling looks legit.

Height does not look very effective. 2-3 sack guy max.

Black is a total waste of a pick. Looks like a 6th rounder. I really can't believe they took him that high but I can because they just can't help but draft bust RBs in the 3rd round.
Agree on the RB, poor 3rd round choice of personnel. WR more optimistic about by a good margin.

From Espn - "Black attacks the line of scrimmage and runs hard through contact. But just two running backs were off the board at pick No. 90, and the Niners took my RB12. Can you imagine Mike Washington Jr.'s speed in Kyle Shanahan's offense? Or Emmett Johnson's ability in the pass game? Black doesn't contribute as a pass catcher. He capped off a really odd night for San Francisco."

Yep - 4.45 speed is run-of-the-mill in the NFL - might be nice in college...... you wonder why the 49ers tread-water despite knocking a grand slam with Purdy at last pick? Their darts have sucked, and so does their management. Seahawks just won the superbowl thanks in large part to their drafting.
