NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

SLAB

Hall of Famer
Yeah there will probably be a couple guys that get 2-3 more sacks than him by seasons end but he will destroy them in tackles for loss, qb hurries/hits etc.
Is “blatant holds that aren’t called because the dude is a human cheat code” a counted stat?

Because he’d also lead the league in that.

This defense is by far the best the 49ers have had in the last decade. Offense just needs to not beat itself and we're a championship contender. Legit like 2000 Ravens-esq defense.

Hufanga entering the mix, the 49ers struck draft gold on him in 5th round....he looks alot faster than 4.6 out there. HIs burst is outstanding....fearless. Hope he stays healthy - I kinda doubt it with the ferocity he players with unfortunately.
He improves the secondary no doubt. 49er secondary with he and Ward bolstered from average to good. Now they need to stay
healthy

Not by far, but yes, the best (so far). Their superbowl year 2020 team recently was very close.
The 49ers have had amazing front 7s from the Willis days, but never a secondary this dominant. And as Slab said, we're getting more reinforcements. Bossa is making a damn good case as the best defensive player we've had in that span too.

Unfortunately, the ceiling is capped with Jimbo at QB.
Just have to hope the ancillary pieces in the offense getting better are enough and he limits mistakes. He didn't play great in the Rams game, but he didn't actively beat himself with the usual turnover problems. All we can hope for.

2-2 is not exactly dominant - the SuperBowl year they were 8-0 to start with 6/8 convincing wins -...the secondary this year helped upchuck the Bears opener game. The 49ers will likely make the Playoffs, but this is not a SuperBowl team. SuperBowl defense yes, but the offense is just too weak and off-setting. They've not done their homework on offense. Broncos easily shut em down. More worrisome, is they've been skunked 2/2 on the road with sewage offense. They look similar to last year - but actually worse - overall the drop off on offense looks higher magnitude than the improvement on defense. This year, the middle part of their schedule is toughest. 5 games following the bye week, who knows what their record will be, maybe around .500.
