NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

whew...what a wild finish. Hubberd channeling his inner James Harrison. number 3 for the Ravens in the end had a chance to catch that hail mary.

As much as I like underdogs winning, I’m glad Buffalo pulls it out.

I want all the teams with the best chance of knocking off Kansas City remaining in the AFC bracket. One of them is already eliminated. LAC played them tough

While there are admittedly other teams that could beat the Niners, KC overall is the only other team in the NFL that scares me. Both on the field and on the sideline.

I HATE the Chiefs!!! Numero Uno....Especially Mahomeless and Smelcey......unfortunately the 2 most likely teams to take them out have to play each other....Jaguars have NO PRAYER....None

49ers should be happy they're not playing the Giants in the divisionals. The Eagles are going to have to spy Jones all game to limit his scrambling yardage. Will be a challenge.

Meanwhile how well the Cowboys do will be dependent on how well their defense plays, but I expect them to beat the Bucs whose offense is likely not up for task. On offense Prescott needs a fairly clean game with 1 interception or less. He's not a top tier QB, and had 15 interceptions in the regular season. If he gives the Bucs+2 in turnovers, the game could very close. I don't know how well the homefield to matter, but the game has a possibility of Cowboys winning comfortably if mistake-free on offense.

Let's GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

man, I’d have rather played Minnesota than Dallas.

Of course, but . wasn't likely. I dont think this Dallas team is much better than last year's Dallas team, while the 49ers offense has a QB and RB upgrade and looks better than last season. I expect Dallas to play cleaner than last year (less penalties), but I also expect the 49ers to edge them when on offense. In 7 games now with Purdy, the 49ers averaged 35 ppg. I think the Cowboys have a good defense and take away close to a 49ers score, but I also see the 49ers winning the turnover battle by +1 neutralizing that improvement somewhat. Take the 49ers 30-24, winning the ground battle against Dallas's ok ground defense while the 49ers defense makes it difficult for the Cowboys run game mostly. I think Prescott to have a decent game, but not quite enough.

I think...You're going to head into the work week being a sad Niners fan after my Cowboys edge out your Niners...:p:p:p

It will be close, but I am hoping that Dak keeps on pounding that ball to the receivers and tight ends. I don't see the Cowboys having much of a run game, but can see them do enough in the air to have a shot at putting up enough points.

Its possible but I give the Cowboys a ~ 4/10 chance. Cowboys have advantage at offensive line, secondary, and special teams. 49ers advantage: defensive line, receivers, running backs, linebackers, coaching

Don't even want to think how good the 49ers would be if they were as successful in round 1-2 as they've been in rounds 3-7 during the draft
I'd honestly much rather be more successful in rounds 3-7 than worry about being successful in rounds 1-2, just because of the number of busts that come out of the first two rounds. A player drafted in later rounds doesn't carry with them nearly as much pressure as does a player drafted in the first two.

As an unbiased Cowboys fan here, I suggest not worrying about your lack of success in the first two rounds, and enjoy your level of success in the last five...:p:p:p

Just remember...Tom was drafted in the 6th round.

I still don't understand the Solomon Thomas pick. I watched some of his tape before the draft and couldn't figure out why this guy was considered a top 5 pick despite showing 5th round pick abilities. Had a decent amount of sacks at Stanford but they seemed more of the opportunistic variety rather than the beat your man and earn it variety.

At least he hit 2019 out of the park with Bosa and Deebo. Been sketchy outside of that.

Final picks in the last 3 drafts have been Purdy, Mitchell and Jennings. Either crazy good or crazy lucky there.

But please for the love of god, no more RB picks in the top 3 rounds.

I hated the Solomon Thomas pick the second it was read. I wanted a QB (mainly Watson), so in hindsight I’d actually rather have taken the bust than the predator.

I’d be Luka levels of salty if I actually wanted Mahomes as my #1 that year, but I didn’t think he’d translate like he did.

Yeah can't say that I wanted Mahomes either. Was surprised he was taken before Watson at the time. I don't know why but for some reason I wasn't even thinking QB at all that draft, despite the Niners having what, Hoyer as the QB?

Not sure where my mind was there but I was thinking defense. Wanted Jamal Adams or Lattimore. Both would have been good picks. Was tired of not even noticing that the Niners had safeties on the field. Had no idea that it would take until this year to finally notice the Niners having safeties that could actually play centerfield and even be in the picture when the ball was thrown. Tartt and whoever else they rotated in were just awful back there.

The one bright-spot of the CMC trade (Outside of the.. you know.. 1300 yards, 12 TDs in a 49er uniform) is we're probably finally done trading up in the 3rd round for RB. My guess is we won't address the position for another few years at least with Mitchell/TDP on rookie scales and CMC signed for another 2 seasons.

CMC not being a rental and not having to worry about resigning him is amazing.

If they don't load up on secondary (at least 2 picks), I'm going to be annoyed - their weakest position still with Purdy's evolution. Draft DB and OL (4 picks), depth chart FB, then LB, maybe DL, possibly kicker, 3rd string QB (again), .

Yep and I've even gotta hand it to Mason for looking better than Davis-Price and Sermon ever have. Wasting 2nd and 3rd round picks like that is just really annoying. RBs are like NBA centers at draft time. They better be real real special like CMC to go that high. Otherwise you can find similar value much further down in the draft or not even in the draft at all. Mostert, Breida and Wilson weren't even drafted.

Yeah need to find a good corner and add depth to the OL. Having a solid OL can completely change the team. Certainly did when the Niners drafted Davis and Iupati back in the day. Not having first round picks for a while is going to hurt in that department though.

Didn’t we also want him fired as well at the end of his Harbaugh run, or am I thinking some other scrub we had over the years?
