NFL 2022-2023 Season Thread

49ers take sole lead of division for a week. None of the teams look good enough this year...both Rams and 49ers have regressed early, especially Rams.

The NFC is wide open this year. The Eagles appear to be the early favorite but it’s a long season and whoever is healthy and peaking come playoff time will make it through. The Niners defense is good enough to keep games close and have a chance to win pretty much every game. Yeah, we all know who Jimmy is at this point, but the NFC doesn’t scare me.

I dont know about the Eagles - they looked awful in the playoffs last year - see if they can beat the Cowboys next week. I'm not that convinced - they don't look like Superbowl contenders. You have the Bills and Chiefs and then a sizable drop-off to the next tier of teams.

49ers need to beat the Falcons next week because 5/6 of the following games are against difficult opponents. See how long Bosa is out. I think the 49ers are gonna get spanked by the Chiefs unfortunately, especially without Bosa.

The 49ers are like… exactly the same 49ers they’ve been the last few healthy seasons.
No they're not as good as 2019/2020 team.. Today they beat up on a cellar-dweller team, and they need to punish the Dirty-birds next week.
I'm pretty sure the offense looking better was a function of how bad the Panthers are. It was a needed win after the Broncos and Bears fiascos - I'm not sure which one of those 2 games was worse.

Bears game shouldn’t even count when discussing how good or not this team is. Monsoon game and Trey’s first “opening day” start? It’s an L, but says nothing about the state of the team.

Broncos game was a disaster.

This defense is stupid, if it can stay healthy(bad start with Mose and Ward, though Bosa seems fine). Jim just has to continue game managing and they’ll be fine until the playoffs.

If healthy; This team will go something 12-5, Jim will be perfectly adequate, then they’ll hit the playoffs and Jim will be forced to do something and he won’t. Then we repeat the process again after giving him a 3 year extension in the offseason.

As long as he' s ok with extension as a possible backup that's fine. Give him a good salary (for a backup). I'm still interested in seeing Purdy, but wont happen unless Garapolo really sucks and they start losing alot (like 3/4 or somethingwhich he has in 1 out of 3 games.

How can the Bills/Chiefs not be on the night game next Sunday --- barring major injuries there's probably a 75% chance one those 2 teams will be the Super Bowl winner.

Niners beat the Panthers so bad that Matt Rhule finally got fired.
It was a bad choice going for a FG down 18 - but it wouldn't have mattered. Panthers offense is not up for tne Niners defense really.
And their defense is average making the Niners offense look good (Niners offense average or below average). Now with some significant defensive injuries the Niners defense will take a hit....be ok for Falcons probably.

Wonder how effective Verrett is going to be off his 900th severe injury and also how long he’ll play before he breaks again.
