Start by wathcing very good college and pro teams. Then you'll have something to compare to when you watch the Kings. There's no way you can understand this team unless you have some other teams to compare it to.

We have people on this forum from all over the world with incredible differences in their knowledge of basketball. As most basketball forums may be full of young or middle aged males, we have many women and four of us are over 60 years of age. To help you, I personally would like to know where you are from, what sports you are familiar with, whether you have played basketball or any sport, whether you have seen a game, your age (roughly), and as much as you can tell us about yourself so we can direct you in the right direction or at least start introducing you to the Kings in the correct way. And I'm sure everyone wants to know, of all the basketball teams in the world, why the Kings? I am always amazed at the people who hang in their with this team as it's not easy.

Unless you are a troll, you are beginning your interest at a time that can be very exciting as I believe we are on the cusp of being a very good even though our present record may not appear to support this claim.

As an example, I have watched basketball since 1955 or so on the high school level and got interested in the NBA in full force in the 60's because that's when it began to be shown on TV. In the 50's I occasionally listened to my home town Lakers on the radio. I've never played basketball on an organized level but my knowledge is decent.

Just another fan opinion:

Step1: Watch the game and try to enjoy the performance (if any). Eventually you catch on.

Step2: Just jump in with the discussion...you can't be any worst than ppl on the forums. (There will be ppl with almighty attitude but they've been here for a while and have some credibility. But for you...don't ever try to be one)

Step3: If the team win/lose you can criticize or praise them...your choice. You'll fit right in with somebody.

But personally I find it is better to just enjoy the game the way you want to enjoy it. Not by anyone else standard.
