New look Lakers

Mihm with 19 at half against the vaunted frontcourt of the Nuggets. Guess the Lakers just imported the new beast from the east, huh?

Lakers also laying a good smackdown to the team that is supposed to finish in the top 4 in the West.

Voshon Lenard out for year with ruptured achilles tendon.

Kobe with 10 shots at some point in the fourth quarter with Lakers up 17 or so.

Well, good job lakers... Kobe actually sacrificed his game for the good of the team and they won.

wow... nuggets are horrible. no teamwork whatsoever. goes to prove that you can throw a bunch of talented players and come up with crap. i seriously hope this was just because new teammates were getting readjusted but man they looked UGLY in that game.

i feel really bad for leonard... what a horrible thing to happen... :(

Hey, Boikens was bobbling around there pretty good. Amazing how that guy hangs around and can really irritate defeisively, isn't it? Also, I saw him make an amazing pass over Odom's head (I think it was Odom). Boikens reminds me of the Little Engine That Could.

Yep, Mihm is a decent (still) young player. I'm not basing this on this game, since I watched them even back in Austin. The Lakers are not nearly as talented as in previous years, but their energy level is a lot higher. The only negative thing about their game tonight is that Brian Grant seems completely lost out of space - was this guy injured or something ?

Yup, Lenard's done. When you tear your achilles bad enough that it shows up in an X-ray, you'd be extremely lucky to walk again in 6 months.

not really; i have done it towards the end of may, this year. i started walking again 3.5 months later (with some hobbling, of course). but getting back to where you were physically (jumping, running, etc.) is a whole different story.

I don't think Grant is injured. He had a big game in the second to last or last preseason game. The Lakers are deep. I would not be surprised to see different players have big games off the bench.

Let's see what they can do tonight in Utah on a back-to-back.

He may not be injured, but he's only a shell of what he once was. Think his knees are really fading. Last year his rebounding and hustle fell off noticeably. Lakers would do well to stick with the Mihm/Odom C/PF lineup even after Vlade gets back and just spot in the old guys as needed.

P.S. Especially since Chris Mihm was my favorite fantasy sleeper pick this year -- got him on 3 of my 4 teams. ;)

Feh; I'm very upset about Mihm signing with the Lakers. I figured him for good numbers, and he was readily available in all of my leagues but, as many of you know, my Fantasy League Code of Conduct™ wouldn't allow it...

 Shame on you!!

:p Just kidding. I wouldn't go so far as to say that I was cheering for them, but I will say that they were a pretty fun team to watch. Kind of like the Mavs are fun to watch, but I still hate them.
