Monarchs had a 3 prong crown. Kings have always been 5 prong. In addition to the prominent red, which was never featured in kings attire, only royals throwbacks.
The femininity you are seeing is the curve at the jaw and the slimmer face which corresponds to the decrease in number of prongs, as opposed to the wider, lower kings crown logo. As for the squiggle that looks like an eye nose combo, I'm not feeling it.

Also, the logo chooses to feature a face, as opposed to the kings shield. This also splits the logos, as shields and crests have traditionally been more of the masculine symbol (battles, family crest, which is carried through men and not women). The female symbolism is, traditionally, on softer curves and her appearance (face).
I'm not trying to get into gender stereotyping, just addressing the implicit trends and traditions of mideival times, which is where we draw these nobility/royalty team names in the first place.

Even if that isn't going to be our logo (which it obviously won't be), I still think we should create a new one, something like a moddern day version of the 2000's logo. It'd be the perfect time for a new logo with the new owners and a bright future ahead of us.

I dunno know, our current one is just plain and generic. Too many teams just have their team name as logos now (Suns, Clippers, etc.)

i'd be completely open to an update of the kings' logo, rather than a complete redesign. it could use some modernity. i'd love to see a sleeker, more simple design...
on the subject of style, i really prefer the script used on the alternate jersey (http://mlb.imageg.net/graphics/product_images/p11179528dt.jpg) to the script used on the standard road jersey (http://www.jerseysmasters.com/image...eke-Evans-Purple-Road-Swingman-NBA-Jersey.jpg). that font has always been atrocious to me. we'll see if vivek has any plans to adjust the look of the sacramento kings. personally, i'd say wait on it a bit, and launch an updated logo/new jersey in time for the '16-'17 season, to be debuted in the new arena...

The execution isn't too bad but the font reminds me of the LA Kings and the Jersey looks like the Raptors Jerseys...

The branding is a mess right now. I think everything needs to be looked at closely and unified. They should re-evaluate the cheesy medieval theme that the former regime relied on. The crown and crest are fine but things like knights and swords are too literal for my taste.
My personal preference would be to find a way to incorporate some local representation into the branding somehow.
