New Estimates: The 10 Largest Cities in California

New estimates from the California Department of Finance, Demographic Research Unit ( http://bayareanewsgroup.com/multimed...ort_050207.pdf ), for January, 2007:

1. Los Angeles - 4,018,080
2. San Diego - 1,316,837
3. San Jose - 973,672
4. San Francisco - 808,844
5. Long Beach - 492,912
6. Fresno - 481,035
7. Sacramento - 467,343
8. Oakland - 415,492
9. Santa Ana - 353,428
10. Anaheim - 345,556

Because it's only population of cities it's somewhat distorted. Obviously, Sacramento metropolitan area is MUCH larger than Fresno. Depending on how distant from city limits I've seen 1.7 million to 1.9 million for Sacramento area.

This list has Sac Metro #26 in USA and #5 in Calif:

Same thing for LA...city pop is 4 million, but the metro area is over 12 million!
