New Coaching Candidates

#1
While we would all love to pull Thibs in as the new coach, the likely reality is that Some other team that hasn't proven to be a dysfunctional mess will land him this offseason. My question is who are some realistic possibilities? A have made a list of people that could very well be interested in the job.

Scott Brooks- Former Thunder Coach
Ettore Messina- Spurs Assistant Coach
Kevin Ollie- UConn Head Coach
Sam Cassell- Clippers Assistant Coach
Mark Jackson- Former Warriors Coach
Elston Turner- Grizzlies Assistant Coach
Sean Miller- Arizona Head Coach
Ime Udoka- Spurs Assistant Coach
Lionel Hollins- Former Grizzlies, Nets Head Coach

I don't necessarily like all of these guys but they are some of the people we have a realistic shot at. Do you guys and gals have any other names to add to the list?

I'm all aboard the McHale wagon. He'd also be great to have from a GM standpoint too. I can only imagine what he would do with Cuz in the middle.

Thibs is already in contact with the Twolves so does not bod well for us, that's a team with a way higher ceiling and way less problems.

Can someone educate me about Mchale? I dont know much about his coaching style.

So far I found this to be very promising:
Again, ideally if you asked me how I’d like to play I’d say that I’d like to have a big guy to throw the ball to and pound the hell out of the other team. (...) Well I think if you control the paint, you control most games. That has shifted a little bit, it’s become a bit more of a perimeter game, but the Houston Rockets won two championships because they got the ball inside-out to Hakeem Olajuwon. I still think it’s important that you can play inside-out. (...) So I want to play inside-out and I’d like to do it with big guys (...)

Edit: here's another quote:
"I'm not one of those guys that says 'this is my offense, run it,'  " McHale said. "If I had Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and I don't run a low-post offense, I'm not very smart. Same if I have Chris Webber, Vlade Divac and those guys and don't run a high-post offense. I'd say it is to have a team that plays very hard and plays to its strengths.

"Is there an ideal team? Yeah. For me, an ideal team would be two 7-foot guys that can flat-out block shots, rebound and score in the paint. When you find those guys, let me know."

But there is also the fact his rockets played with a lot of pace every year, even when they got D. Howard. And he is best friends with Danny Ainge :p

David Blatt... And yes, I know everybody will say I'm not objective as israeli (and also native russian-speaker), and maybe it's true. But I have to say that Blatt is not just good but great coach, which caused teams to over-perform on unbelievable level.
cmon man.. eastern conference with lebron? hell i can guarantee 30+ wins as head coach with lebron on the team.

It's not about the record this season (while still they were almost all time without Irving and Shumpert, with Mozgov playing really bad because of injuries so it was not as easy as it seems to be).
Last year Cavs swept Hawks and won 2 games against historically great Warriors with basically zero talent behind Lebron, starting Dellavedova who by opinion of majority of experts wasn't even considered NBA-level talent, with Shumpert/JR Smith as starter/6th man while they weren't impactfull palyers in lowly Knicks and two bigs (Mozgov and Thompson) of marginally starting quality... without any bench to call.
And those who didn't follow european basketball never understood how much typical Blatt's team it was (like Russian NT winning Euro-2008 against vastly superior Spain NT or Maccabi winning Euroleague against CSKA and Real with almost x3 bigger budgets)... ok, with Lebron stuck there and scoring half of the team points, sure... but noone can do miracle without some magic, even if it's evil magic.

dont want brooks

hell no to jackson, fisher and blatt

van gundy wants back into coaching but i dont think he's a good fit.

buy thibs love. Seriously. Guarantee money, do whatever you need to.

this is really moot in any case given we are looking for a GM prior to moving Karl and rehiring
