  • The wiki is wrong.
  • Your counter is based on a false premise. You're extrapolating what Stoudemire did to the Spurs to what he did for the whole season, and that's not exactly how it played out. Amar'e Stoudemire was not the biggest part of the Suns offense. Steve Nash was. Stoudemire led the Suns in scoring, but he was probably the fourth-most important player on that team, and everybody knew it. That's why Amar'e Stoudemire was not the 2005 MVP.

They need to remove C-Webb off the commentary he's one of the worst colour commentators I have ever heard, dude just makes incorrect statements and rambles on about completely irreverent crap. Steve Smith and Brent Barry are the only decent former players that work for I think TNT, Reggie Miller and C-Webb are just plain awful. Webber needs to go back to being an analyst he was fairly decent at that.

I'm trying to figure out why do the Hawks, Wizards, Warriors and Grizzlies all get three days off while the Cavaliers, Bulls, Clippers and Rockets only get one day

Kinda agree. Reggie Miller makes me cringe

Watching the Cavs-Bulls is actually not bad. Just saw Mozgov potentially earn himself a nice little fine if the NBA lip-reads what he said while the camera was close up on him after the foul call. :p

Good game in Chicago with a great finish. Now if Houston can just smack the crap out of the Clipshow in Staples, my weekend will be off to a nice start. :)

Was a four letter word.

It's only slurs which would get fined and even then I think Kobe is the only one to get fined for a slur, and I blame the increased camera presence more than Kobe for that. In general, it's stupid to zero in on a guy in the middle of a competition, then get offended by what might be said.

As an aside, Pau better be alright, they'll need him. I don't care what it takes, I want Chi advancing.

Looks like the Clippers are going to get the full home-court treatment from the officials.

In other news, I hate Spencer Hawes.

My hatred for the Clippers is venturing into territory previously reserved solely for the other team that plays in Staples.

Surprised no one's mentioned Matt Barnes' latest doucheyness episode.
He might be a douchebag, but the Clips don't beat the Spurs without him.
Guy's a straight baller - I don't care of he's a jerk - he shoulda been the Kings jerk for the past 10 years.

Matt Barnes has probably been the best bang-for-the-buck player in the entire NBA for 9 years.

I'm just at the point where I can't watch the Houston/Clips series every time I look it's someone I hate can't watch it anymore.

Nice to see coach Thibs not be so stubborn and play Nikola who was a massive boost to the Bulls.

To me (and, I suspect, to other people in this thread who have made the allusion), "run n gun" does not mean "no defense" or "lacking in fundamentals." To me, "run n gun" is shorthand for "lack of a reliable low post offensive threat." Shooting threes is not the baseline, lack of a low-post threat is. As long as you have a guy whom you can dump the ball into, down on the block, and say, "Go get me a basket, and/or get fouled," Then I don't think you can be reasonably described as a "run n gun" team, whether that guy is Hakeem Olajuwon, Tim Duncan, Dwight Howard or LeBron James. I also feel that any team that lacks such an option can be reasonably described as a "run n gun" team, and that defense and fundamentals have nothing to do with it.

This is what we call "shifting the goal posts."

I'm glad to know you think that the wiki article is wrong and random unstable definitions that you pull out of your ass are correct.

You're damned right. And why wouldn't I? What the hell qualifies 'Jonesey95' to be a more definitive authority than me?

I don't think some people realize that anybody can edit a Wiki piece. Of course, Jonesey95 might actually be Pat Riley. :p

You can't be an authority because you're attacking one link I posted and not making an actual argument.

How about you start by explaining why you think a team with a center that averaged 26 points per game didn't have a low post threat? Saying "Steve Nash was more important to the team" doesn't make the fact that Amare was a dominant offensive force in the post go away.

And for the record: I hated the Suns run n gun squads and thought the team was overrated. I agree with you that having a strong post presence is critical to a good team. But I think the Warriors just don't have the roster for it (elite offensive true big men are one of the rarest quanities in the NBA, not a knock on them). But they do things that I admire: 1- they built a solid defense, 2- they push the break, and 3- when the break isn't there, they re-set into a half court offense. That's not a run n gun team in any sense.

Speaks to my earlier point that the Hawks couldn't win that game. The table is absolutely set for them to waltz into the conference finals and yet they get embarrassed for three quarters. Managed to save face with a late comeback, but they continue to look like their best basketball is well behind them. Without Wall this will probably be a lengthy series, but at this point their just not a very good team, which was already apparent after that Nets series.

I feel like I've already had to defend Amare around here before, so I'll just say he was great during those playoff runs. Look at the numbers, watch the games, and consider the competition. The argument presents itself and certainly doesn't hinge on his post play.

The Wizards looked great. Well, up until the 4th they did. I like Nene / Gortat, and Beal played great. He's the type of guard that I would love to see in a Kings uniform next year.
