wow the lotto is unnecessarily complicated- what happened to balls with team names on them?

Well, if you want to put 1000 balls into a hopper to make the odds come out the way they drew them up, sure.

But this method is much easier, and it's almost certainly much cheaper to design a machine to adequately randomize 14 balls than 1000.

i suppose. makes more sense to me to simplify the odds to lower fractions so they could broadcast it live as the balls get pulled out of the machine
