I’m not sure Wagner doesn’t have more upside than people realize. That doesn’t mean he would be my pick per se but I could live with it. Given Wagner was growing and his BBIQ, I think he will be a much better offensive player than people think.

He reminds me of my son who still hadn’t put on man muscle at 19 yet. None of the Big 4 collegiate water polo teams offered him because he hadn’t matured. Wagner is in the same boat. It affects strength to finish and angles on your shot.
While Wagner was a Sophomore this year, he is younger than many of the Freshmen this year.

The Kings aren’t a plug and play solid player away from being a playoff team. Gotta shoot for upside at nine.
Ehh you say that but valuing high bball iq is never a bad strategy and while this team may seem like they are far off from being competitive, you plug in a high IQ smart player who gives effort and can stay in front of their man, it could make a world of difference between some of those games we gave away because we simply could not keep our man in front of us on defense

Assuming all the players I want are gone by 9, I don’t see any hard working type of players that can basically develop themselves imo. This team won’t develop anybody unless they’re self motivated. Wagner sounds good but I think he’s gonna be gone

True but that doesn’t mean he was low IQ. None of the draft rankings said he was low IQ.
OG was primarily a defensive player in college. He had shown a little ability to shoot, but not enough to give anyone confidence in his shot. He was still considered likely to be picked in the late teens (despite his injury) until his medicals came out. Literally the next day he dropped into the 2nd round in most mocks. I don't know what was in his medicals, but they scared teams more than Giles' medicals did.

Yep I remember.

I don’t see Wagner anything like either of them in terms of his development and where he is at.
Agreed. IMO, Wagner is already a better player than both Stuaskus & JJ. The main knock I hear about him is that he doesn't have an elite skill, but is good at everything. I would counter than his defense & ability to always seem to know where to be on defense is an elite skill.

Just remember Justin Jackson and Stauskas when you're pulling for the Kings to draft somewhat mediocre "glue" type guys.

neither of those guys had strong work ethic from what I could tell. We need guys with strong work ethic to build team culture/accountability. At least with that we can over achieve

JJ was a hard worker. Think he's an FA. Wouldn't mind signing him to a short, prove it deal. There's a place for him in the league, if he puts on some pounds.

As for Stauskas, Kate pretty much said he was the laziest pro she's ever been around.

I see hard worker as what Ty was doing last year. Practicing outside of team practice putting in even more work to get over the top. Shooting before and after games. I’m not expecting Kobe work ethic which was basically just a complete work addict but If JJ did what Ty did then nice

I was mostly joking. Wagoneer does have the defense that those guys never had. I think he's the best of what a lot of people think as the lower ceiling prospects but I'm just hoping there's a better player available at 9.

That wasn't the point, Vlade clearly went with Jackson for his basketball skills/IQ because he didn't really have anything else to speak of.
he shot well from 3 (.370) the year before in college but the analytics guys will tell you that stat isn’t very predictive. They would have pointed to his moderate to poor free throw shooting as more representative of his shooting skills.

the shooting is relevant this year in terms of Davion Mitchell who has a similiar profile versus say Wagner who shot .835 over two years of college.

At some point it really ought to be. How much of your life that you could have spent doing something you enjoyed are you going to instead spend crying about Vlade?
I’ve noticed that you tend to be wrong about most things, and such is the case with your response to my post that you found necessary to assail.

Vlade’s FOs (and those of his most recent predecessors) did irreparable harm to the Kings franchise.

Divac and his accomplices in misfeasance warrant commentary because their missteps directly contributed to 15 consecutive losing seasons - an NBA record for futility.

This infamous streak is commonly mentioned in other user’s posts and referenced prominently in virtually every article written about the state of the Kings, but in your book doing so is “crying”.

Fans and pundits will stop chastising the flawed management of the organization when they put a winning product out on the floor, and not anytime sooner.

In closing, I assure you that the micro-fractional percentage of time that I spend sharing my opinion about Vlade’s utter ineptitude does not detract from my happiness or my other interests.

Thanks for your concern.
