NBA Games on the Internet

I was wondering if there was a way that I would be able to watch games from my laptop. I'm going to the Philippines from December 26 to January 23rd. Total of 14 games in that time span. Would the service be NBA Broadband.

I forgot the name of the piece of hardware...but you can get them for about 200-250 dollars. Jim Rome used to advertise them. This piece hooks into your tv and to your home internet connection. Then you load a player on your computer, then as long as you have an internet connection you can watch your tv as if you were sitting at home. Change all the channel and view all channels that you have available on your satellite or cable plan.

Ok I just remembered what it's called. A sling box I believe. Search it up on ebay.

yeah, slingboxes go for about $150 on amazon these days. a number of people have said it's pretty good.

edited it out, sorry. hope everyone knows it wasn't meant to be malicious or anything of the sort. also you might want to remove it from your post and doc's just to make it complete.

ETA: what do you know, right there clear in the rules section. should've read more carefully...:o

My buddy has a slingbox at his house (in a Detroit subburb) that was a gift for his sister in grad school (Boston), who can't get cable, but can get wireless internet.

Works fantastic. However, it is 1 viewer per slningbox at a time. I use the slingbox sometimes, but feel guilty, because I COULD watch TV somewhere else, his sis can't ;) When I use it, I block it from her.

Even at pretty poor connections it works pretty well. If I was a traveling man (with a job) I would DEFINENTLY think about getting one.

There is a cool link to a Tokyo ESPN2 site that shows many games on the www I might have to PM the link to you in order to not break any rules.

What was illegal about my second comment. How man useres a broadband connection could ahndle with the sling box. If I buy a sling box and give 5 of my friends access to use it, that's completely legal. That's all that was being discussed.

Also you have to have the Sling box player, and no someone's IP to even try to connect, Also router info. So, there was no illegal discussion.

The only discussion was what are the capabilities of the connection, which I responded that with streaming video you would really start bogging down probably after 5 people or so. I've never used a sling box, but that's my educated guess being an IT guy.

The Sling Box supposedly works really well. Just keep in mind that you're controlling the TV remotely, so the folks at home are watching what you watch.

And downloading NBA games over Bittorrent is a copyright violation, which IS illegal. Even if you pay for cable, missed the game and aren't actively distributing or selling it, downloading the game via Bittorrent is still a copyright violation. This isn't really the forum to argue copyright issues, so let's all just agree that I DON'T recommend using Bittorrent to download anything, even if you missed it and have no other way watch. Just say NO!

Waiting for a VF21-sized boot upside my head... ;)

You can usually download NBA games (legally) from videos.google.com a couple days after they happen. It's like $2.95 a game. Good quality.

True, I was just going to mention this. I just finished watching an old Mavs game thanks to this service. :)

(I was watching all the new Pacers)
