NBA Draft 2025 Open Thread

Alright man, you do you. I don't see how him trying to rush back from injury in a season where his HC got fired, his co-star quit on the team, the lead assistant left, the assistant gm left means he's deadweight and not a top 15 guy as well as being one of the best Kings ever. But it's somehow his fault we fell apart vs the Mavs?
Sabonis particularly had an awful game - looked like he packed up early - it was ugly, but 1 game is how I see it, and not much of a meaningful one anyway. I dont like the play-in format - as a side note. Would've liked to have seen the kings lose with dignity (compete) instead of doormatting, but cest la vie....they weren't going anywhere into these recent 2025 playoffs.

From ESPN's Kevin Pelton:
"

Sacramento Kings Grade C

Round 1: Nique Clifford (No. 24)
Round 2: Maxime Raynaud (No. 42)

Having sent the No. 13 pick to Atlanta to complete the Kevin Huerter trade, the Kings tapped into the extra first-rounders coming from the De'Aaron Fox deal to get back in the first round. Sacramento limited the possible downside of the move by putting top-16 protection on the pick, which has only a one-year window to convey.

My model was lower on Clifford than scouts because he didn't emerge as a serious NBA prospect until his fifth year of college at age 23. Time will tell how much of that was Clifford legitimately improving his skill, as opposed to utilizing an experience advantage that won't carry over.

Scouts were also higher on Raynaud, largely because of his subpar block rate for a center. However, my model missed on Quinten Post last year, and Raynaud brings a similar skill set after hitting 67 3-pointers as a senior. "

Huh? He's not a superstar but skilled he is, haha. I don't think that glue game and passing vision is going to disappear.

The key word in his bias is "legitimately". If gradiing the draft based on the full talent distribution perhaps a C is warranted, I dunno, but seems like the kings played it pretty safe by the highlights, their new players look like they have higher floors for each's relative draft position. I don't watch college much but did see the final 4, and wasn't impressed by individual players. Cooper Flagg looks talented, but "generationally" talented? - People don't understand the engrish language

And the thing is skill is skill. If you showed skill in college, it's likely going to translate to some degree. Now, does domination or even talent like you brought up translate? No not always, but he wasn't dominating anyone anyway.
