NBA Draft 2025 Open Thread

When they get trounced in the play-in game by a Dallas squad featuring AD, PJ Washington, Klay Thompson, Naji Marshall, Derick Lively II, and Daniel Gafford they are.

Alright man, you do you. I don't see how him trying to rush back from injury in a season where his HC got fired, his co-star quit on the team, the lead assistant left, the assistant gm left means he's deadweight and not a top 15 guy as well as being one of the best Kings ever. But it's somehow his fault we fell apart vs the Mavs?

Possibly a trap, but I know the other guys are bad already lol.

Looking a little closer, he was excellent in GS the year before he was hurt all last year. Just really put everything together last year.

Will hunt through the FA class a bit more in the next few days, but Ty looks like a screaming value.

If the Kings can land someone for a cheap 2 year deal max as a stopgap that's fine. If they fill that PG spot with any of these guys at anything close to full MLE it's a mistake. Jerome going to a team that is in desperate need of a potential talent infusion is a better bet for them. The only real hope with Jerome would be his productivity translates in those minutes. The problem is a lot of the time he's not getting those minutes because he's borderline costing his team the game, haha.

That's my worry, I don't think the Dennis/Russ/Tyus tier is going to be all that different than Ty.

Like I'm not spending 8-9mil/season on them when I can spend 12-13 for Ty

Now if the above 3 are 4-5, that changes the equation

He's done this three years in a row in the post-season though and he's now 29 years old. At this point we just have to accept that this is who he is-- A great teammate, a fun player with a unique skillset, a type of guy who you can build an offense around, and yet not able to find that extra gear that star players need to find in the playoffs. And there's been a lot of smoke about him being a significant factor in the coach firing which led to all those other guys leaving.

We need more than just some re-tooling after last season, we need a fresh start. We don't get that without trading the one guy we have who might net a decent return and we have to trade him before he starts talking to his agent about getting out of a rebuild situation.

I'd say just keep Monk before spending that much on Ty. They're kind of similar in terms of their best role as a 6th man streaky somewhat high usage combo guards.

Vastly different analytics profiles. Ty was like crazy impactful last year, Malik wasn't.

Now maybe Ty can't handle that role increase in a similar vein, but it also allows you to flip Monk to help your wings while you get a better shooter and someone who can slot in ad a starting lead ball handler
