NBA Draft 2025 Open Thread

Just a dumb comment. It has nothing to do with his skill. It’s about how to you get time on the court. If I’m Keon’s Agent I sign a 2 year restricted free agent contract and get my kid the hell out.

I won’t comment any more. You guys can all pat each others back on how we managed to get another steal of a guard and ignore all the other guys who got zero time to develop until they left the log jam.

I’m no longer a season ticket holder any more so who cares.

If it was October and the Kings have the same roster you’d have a point. We haven’t even entered free agency yet.

They’ll be upset when monk is gone and Ellis/Carter are getting 15mpg

I love Keon I was excited when Monte got him as a free agent I am Alabama man. But I think you place to much value on Keon here. He is a role player off the bench and spot starter. That’s it.

Sorry Saraf fans. NETS JUST TOOK HIM LOL

If Scott Perry wanted Ben Saraf he would have taken him at #24 so obviously he wasn't a target for our front office. I can see the reasons to make the Nique Clifford pick (he's a solid bet to be a steady NBA role-player who contributes in a lot of areas) but I don't personally see him as a big upside guy -- more of a depth pick. Saraf would have made sense as a playmaker on a team that needs one. We already had a logjam at SG and I don't see the one stand-out skill that Clifford brings to the table which makes it easer to trade Keon Ellis and open up minutes for him. I would have taken Rasheer Fleming given who was left on the board but I want most of this roster gone so I'm prepared to be disappointed.

Yeah, he should be a good role player if nothing else. He can create some offense though so that's good. He's obviously older but for what the Kings gave up it's a decent why not. Talks of trading Carter or something like that to get in were ludicrous though.

We shall see. It’s highly unlikely they are trading LaVine and they say they are not trading Ellis.

All 3 are undersized for the 3:
We drafted Davion and he struggled to get on the floor
We drafted Carter and he struggled to get on the floor.

If they have a plan to trade LaVine, I am all in as he is a good sized 2 but we have been down this road so many times.

We got big rebounding guards down. Clifford averaged nearly 10 as a 2-3 tweener and Carter averaged 9 as a combo guard in his last college season.

I don’t really see how Perry couldn’t like Carter being somebody that traded for Josh Hart. He has more offensive and defensive potential too. Hope both of these guys stick around and we use Monk and DDR to acquire bigger forwards and a point.

I’m not worried about Clifford’s size. He was about 6’6 1/2 without shoes. He’ll be playing in shoes and all his athletic measurements were pretty remarkable except for wingspan but he has speed, strength, hops, and intelligence.

Not that I don’t want the Kings to find wingspan length. Perhaps tomorrow.

The major point we should take away is that anyone in the old teams core really "isn't safe" Probably Keegan, Keon and that's it. I would like to assume Carter too, but perhaps not. This is WHY you bring in a new power structure on a failed core; he's going to install the players he wants as he doesn't have any ties to the old team/regime.

You should never ever care about fit in the NBA draft, but especially in our team context, when we have no idea which Kings (outside of now Nique Clifford and probably Keegan) will be on the team in 18 months. Good news is Nique seems very clearly like a BPA pick that fell that just happens to fill current team needs and gives us size on the wing.

Nice work so far. Go get Proctor tomorrow and Perry is off to a A+ start.

The one thing it also shows is that apparently the insistence on defense and intangibles isn't totally out the window. Carter, Keon, Jones, Clifford, and Keegan. They fit the talk coming in. Now hopefully common sense continues to prevail.

You should invest in one of those portable computer thingies.
I feel like you're using your laptop wrong
My personal laptop is quite large, and heavy. Not the most comfortable to put on my lap and type/work off of. Also, when it comes to things like the draft, I tend to stay away from my computer because I truly do enjoy watching these kinds of things, and I feel that if I end up taking my laptop with me to wherever I watch, I'll become way too distracted and miss a lot of stuff.
