Moving on from Zion seems inevitable so they needed a new PF. I like Derik Queen, he's crafty and has good touch around the basket.

Eh. Most of those guards will be gone in a couple years anyway. I think they're just in "throw a lot of stuff at the wall and see what sticks" mode. At least they're doing something. Our franchise mostly loves to do nothing on draft night.

Is Perry's strategy to wait until the player he wants is drafted, and then trade for him? Or does that raise the price for said player? Sometimes, a team will draft a particular guy at a second team's request, and then send him to that team. That is what happened with Olivier-Maxence Prosper, as I remember.

Hmm. Seems like an overpay to move up 10 spots, but I like Queen as a prospect and I'm all for teams being proactive and using these picks to go out and get specific players that they believe in so I'm still not going to hate on it. Sometimes we forget that draft picks are worth nothing unless they turn into legit NBA players. That's what I want all GMs to do -- go get your guy and then put the weight of your franchise into developing them.
