NBA Draft 2025 Open Thread

Funnily enough, I’m way more content with RUN IT BACK this season than I was after we lost to the Warriors.

We knew what that team was. At least with this team we can put on some purple shaded glasses and pretend LaVine gets acclimated to his new home, Monk accepts being a sixth man again, Devin Carter stays healthy and proves the player people squint and see, and we find a competent real starting point guard. Like not even a good one. Just one to hold down the fort.

I mean if our "only" move is Tyus or Dennis schroeder at 3/27... that's the definition of running it back.

Yeah but they still have most of their assets. Anything that doesn't cost something to get something is workable. I would certainly hope that's a 2 year deal for these stopgap guys if that's the choice though. If it's full MLE then welcome home Kings anchor contract! It's been awhile.

I still think DDR gets traded to one of the teams that got bumped from the playoffs because they didn’t have another go to scorer for late game situations. Can’t tell me he doesn’t have value to those teams. The only timeline they should care about is now……looking at you Knicks
hope so, I can’t believe how much of my day was spent on this and other sites seeing if Perry got something done.

George said this also.
I'm guessing that Demar has negative value. He doesn't have a lot of suitors, and nobody really wants him. I'd take Rozier with no sweetener at this point.

Anytime a player can score like DeMar on that kind of efficiency he will be valued around the league. Yes he can’t defend or space the floor, but that’s why he’s even attainable. If he could do those things he would be a max player.

The problem with running it back and waiting to identify if it can work or not, it can’t, is that all the shots are going to DDR or Monk or Lavine with Domas cleaning up or getting the occasional game where they feed him because of matchups.

That means Keegan, Keon and Carter can’t grow their game. And of those 3, I’d really like to see Keegan get a chance.

The deal if there is one will be made around the time we pick or even after the team has picked for us (this was almost always how it would be when you look at teams that actually make draft night trades which is a rarity for us, but obviously hindsight applies)

Ah, yes! One of my three most favorite (NBA) days of the year that are actually non-Kings specific days!

I also hate everyone at ESPN and think they're bad at their job, so not really seeing the correlation here
Yeah, like I have immense issues with almost all the ESPN NBA personalities including Givony, their so-called draft expert. Jeremy Woo’s pretty solid as their actual scout guy but he’s not Mike Schmitz

Teams are gonna want to know if Derozan is willing to come off the bench before trading for him is what I think. No way you start DD with Brunson and KAT there the fit isn’t the best in Miami too starting with Herro and Bam

Ham like most of these guys don’t do there research on prospects is the correlation. Hell I’d take Ham over Arenas and the Morris twins who somehow have a job at espn, that network is dumpster fire.
