I hate that Pop is holding players out this early in the season. Tickets are EXPENSIVE and fans deserve to see the superstars when they come to town. I don't think it's diabolical; I think it's contrary to the spirit of the game and the spirit of competitive sports in general.

I understand that argument. I don't go to a lot of games anymore so perhaps it doesn't hit as close for me, but I can understand with tickets costing as much as they do why you would be upset if you show up to a game expecting to see the defending champs and you get a team of backups instead. On the other hand, a lot of people pay to go see the Harlem Globetrotters even though it's a foregone conclusion that they're going to win. It could be argued that the Houston fans saw their stars trounce the guys in the other jersey and probably had a good time doing it. As far as I can recall, Pop isn't resting his guys for home games, just tough match ups on the road against championship contenders looking to knock them down a peg. I hate what Philadelphia is doing. It's contrary to the spirit of the game. With San Antonio, it doesn't bother me as much I suppose because they're actively trying to win, they've just been so successful for so long now that they have a different standard for what "winning" means relative to every other team in the NBA.

I love that Popovich is willing to hold guys out, at any point in the season. I mean, don't get me wrong, I respect the hell out of the players who give full faith and credit to the ticket-buying consumers but, at the same time, that stuff is the concern of somebody not named Gregg Popovich. It's not Pop's job to worry about the ratings, or the gate, or even if it's some fan's one chance they get all year to go to a basketball game. It's his job to win championships, and if he feels like sitting Tim Duncan in November will pay off in June, who are we to question his tactics? It's already worked once, and it literally came six seconds away from working twice.

Also, since I'm a jerk by nature, I love that it was the ultimate "**** You" move in gamesmanship from Gregg Popovice to Kevin McHale. Like, I think so little of you, and so little of this game, that I'm going to sit two of my best guys, and if you beat us in November, so what?

We'll have to agree that we see this from totally opposing points of view. In my mind, professional sports exists because of the fans. It's a symbiotic relationship that has to be balanced to be effective. I know of fans of other teams who religiously buy tickets and trek to STA to see their teams play. They're respectful, they're there to see their favorite players, and they should be able to do so. Players held out because of suspensions or injuries are one thing. Players held out because the coach wants to play head games is dishonest IMHO.

I know I would be totally irate if, for example, I lived in Portland and went to the game to see my Kings, only to find out Malone had held DFC out in some kind of strategic move, ESPECIALLY IN NOVEMBER. You might be able to convince me of the strategic value in March or April but not this early in the season.

But as I said, I will agree to disagree. But I will not change my feeling that it was unfair to the fans. Who are we to question the tactics? We're the ones who pay for the tickets, buy the team merchandise, watch the commercials, etc. Without our support and the support of fans everywhere for their favorite teams, guys like Popovich wouldn't have jobs.

James Harden has attempted 64 Free throws already, I know he's good at drawing fouls, but there's a difference how the refs call fouls against him compared to any other player not named Durrant. They seem to get more touch/beneficial calls than t I can remember, I mean Cousins has 38 and Gay has 36 he's nearly attempted as both our stars combined.
It's all about minutes played: Boogie have even bigger per minute foul rate, and Rudy is close nearby too. Harden leads NBA at 202 minuted on the floor so far. And against the Spurs at least he got reasonable whistles and non-whistles.

From what I've seen, most of Harden's FT attempts are legit. But even so, his whole game is extremely hideous and unwatchable, especially for a superstar player. Sometimes Harden isn't even looking at the rim when he tries to driveaw a foul. Speaking of respect for the fans, it doesn't even appear that he's trying to play basketball at times.

Celtics reveal "Parquet Pride" alternate jersey...

I think I may hurl.

100-year old Dre Miller and no-D rew Gooden somehow contribute for Wizards.
Sixers are fighting home vs Bulls, and KJ McDaniels continues to look like an NBA player, filling up the statsheet.

That is pretty hideous, not mention the parquet pattern in the armpit extended area in no way resembles the actual parquet court. Double fail.

I'm not a fan of the alternate jersey thing, as a whole. Would prefer teams to just stick with white home and a colored road. Seems like they're trying to do way too much with this stuff. The short sleeve thing is awful

Adams defends really well so far against both Zach and Marc. Memphis doesn't really bother though, sleepwalking so far.

Um, our black jerseys are our alternates. :p

Harden drives to the hoop, starts to bring the ball up for a layup, and at this point Iggy slaps the ball, so Harden just runs straight out of bounds with ball, that's still in his hands. His style of play is ugly, he routinely exagerates contact, but Harden just exploits, what NBA allows.
Motiejunas started the season really slow, but is an important cog in Rockets' lead today.
Apparently the best defense against Klay is fouling him out...

The only thing is that Philly fans are actually ok with losing, but their attendance will be waaaay down. Philly fans actually think it's ok to tank, especially 2-3 seasons in a row.

Harden gets his foul shots by(in order), 1)Running into a crowd of defenders 2)Banging his body with theirs 3) throwing up a random shot into the 4th row 4)taking an ugly fall and finally 5) crying.

Broadcasting crew mentioned a few minutes ago: on a contested shot if ball goes up, defender got the hand, if ball goes down, it was a clear play. Game is so quick right now, that refs judge not what is happening, but rather reactions, and that's what I meant by "exploits, what NBA allows"
Ariza cools down to a mean, Harden is stifled and Rockets have nothing - 22-4 run for Warriors.

Boston might sneak into POs: with losses to Mavs, Raps and Rockets they are now taking the game to Rose-less Bulls in Chicago.

Well, Davis just got the ball and put it inside the hoop. Against Baynes, mind you, but still. And Pels pulled off the win.

Spurs go on a California sight seeing tour next:11/10 @Clippers, 11/11 @Warriors, 11/14 @Lakers and 11/15 @Kings. Hope Pop doesn't pull obvious move of resting his aging stars on the first night of Lakers-Kings b2b. :)

No chance; Boston's off to the same start that Philadelphia got off to last year. If there's a sleeper team in the east, it's the Bucks.
