Makeover on verge of paying dividends for young Kings
Posted Sep 22 2010 11:46AM

The adjustment is more a rumbling seismic shift. An evolving, time-lapse version, yes, because it has been a year in coming, but make no mistake. The Kings are living a dramatic transformation.

Think they became more physical and aggressive in the summer of 2009? Try 2010, when the major trade added a shot blocker, the major draft decision brought in a sledgehammer interior presence and a secondary draft decision went to another shot blocker with the kind of upside that makes him a good bet to stick as a second-round choice.

SHC being the source, it's not surprising that he actually wrote something that acknowledges not just the players added, but the shift on the Kings roster.

I like to think that some of my hate mail made it through back in the day and became the inspiration behind this revolution in basketball philosophy. :p

Not a bad article, I like how he pointed out that we decided to get out of our finesse style of play and go with power/muscle. It's good to see the league taking notice on this team again, slowly but surely.

Maybe I misread but it appeared to me that he made a misprint and stated that we went for skill and finesse over muscle. Maybe I should read it again.

Should probably be noted here that SHC is the same guy who a couple of weeks ago predicted we'd win all of 28 games this season, so I'm far from sure I'd give him credit for "getting it" just yet. Reading between the lines you can see his doubts about Cousins, and even a little about Reke.

You know how writers are, your going to get the good and the bad out of them. One day they will diss your team and the next praise away. I don't really care what he thinks of Cousins/Reke, it's the best feeling when they prove them wrong and then decide its time to start writing positive things.

You were probably thrown off by his incredibly rambling sentence structure: "It's nothing less than a major policy shift in the wake of consecutive last-place finishes in the Pacific Division -- "I guess the answer to that would be yes, because we did [the moves]," he said when asked if he agrees with the change-of-direction premise -- that has changed the traditional franchise approach toward skill and finesse over muscle."

He's talking as if he gets it. Kind of a shock, huh?

Well SHC always was **** as a writer from a technical standpoint. I was on him for that as far back as the golden era around here. Its amazing sometimes the people who somehow end up as professional writers. Its always been about content wiht him, because stylistically...mom and dad please don't let this man be a role model to your young budding writers.
