NBA.Com -- An Appreciation of the NBA's Hottest Player

Cousins kicked off the month and the year by being on the cover of SLAM magazine.

You almost couldn't have written a better script for this month for boogie...

"You dream about games like that as a kid." And his career high scoring? "I don't really care. I'm trying to get a win."

OMG grant is ranting and raving about the 5th foul cousins got last night.
Yes, it was stupid. However, according to "THE VOICE OF THE KINGS" DMC will never be a great player until he changes and fixes his bad attitude. And now since DMC has never been on a team that has won more than 30 games he is more accountable for his behavior.
"I understand he scored 56 points last night but that foul is just intolerable. He needs to send a thank you note to the ref who didn't eject him because he should have been ejected."

Grant has a serious problem with DMC. Its gotta be his refusal to go on his show. Someone brought up a great idea. When DMC's contract comes up, he needs to tell the team that one stipulation of him coming back is the team dumping Grant.

makes me wonder what kind of pub DMC would be getting in a big market team?
Chicago?
NY?
LA?

He would be serious MVP talk right now, no doubt. As absolutely filthy of a season Curry is having, people would be dissecting it and making a case for Cousins. Of course he would be starting his second game as an all star.

Grant Napear said Westbrook gets excused from his behavior on the court (techs etc.) because the team wins 50 games every year. Cousins doesn't even win 30 games. Doesn't that mean Cousins needs help out there? I swear, Grant always blames Cuz when the sun doesn't rise.

Oh my goodness.

Let's try to have a good season where our owners and front office don't self destruct before we start presuming we are going to buck the trend of 30 years of being free agency Siberia

I heard the start of his show and then turned to KNBR.

Cousins leads the NBA in both scoring and rebounding during January, averaging 32.5 points and 13.7 rebounds over 11 games. Roll those numbers around in your head and then consider this: It's been nearly 34 years – just over a third of a century – since we last saw an NBA player complete a month of 10-or-more games with averages that high in both categories. That encompasses the entire playing careers of Shaq, Karl Malone, Kevin Garnett, Tim Duncan, David Robinson, Hakeem Olajuwon, Patrick Ewing and Charles Barkley. The last player to finish a month with averages as high as Cousins has produced so far in January was Moses Malone, who averaged 35.0 points and 14.4 rebounds per game for the Rockets in March of 1982. March of 1982!

Just wow.

Are you really counting our signings from last year as "star free agents"?

Rondo, yes, star.

And the others were quality. Which was bucking the trend for us. No way they come here without Vlade. Regardless of Belinelli's play, you think PDA is getting Koufos and Belinelli?

And, without Rondo, no other star would come here. So the trend was already bucked, now we just need to add to it. Rondo (via Vlade) bucked the trend.

Rondo may not have had another suitor after the Dallas fiasco. When a guy has no completion for a new home, they don't count as a star signing. Sorry.

The other guys were really solid bench players. Needed and a really nice job by vlade.

None of which suggests we've bucked the trend that we can now compete for stars. At all. And maybe we don't need to.

All I'm saying is players aren't idiots.

Durant comes here and he wins multiple championships. That's an absolute dream team.

Same goes with any other top 10 player. It's a combo or Rondo coming here and Cousins catapult to superstardom.
