Natt on KHTK:

Hall of Famer
Grant just announced that Kenny Natt is going to be on the air. He didn't say when, but could be within the hour, for all those interested.

I find it interesting that he had a practice today at 1PM - after long road trip, arriving back in Sac very late last night from San Antonio. Then Coach Natt went on to say team will practice again on Christmas day in prep for Toronto on Friday. Also, indicated Kevin Martin is actively working out with team, supporting his mates, but no date set yet for his return.

Has Grant at any point in time gave his take on the trade talks/rumors about Salmons and/or Miller?

He also stated that he see's improvement in Hawes post game. He wants to continue to put him in the post, saying the only way to improve is to continue to go up against the better players in the league. Ditto Jason Thompson. He said he knows that they're going to make mistakes but its the best way to learn.

He also said that Hawes already has a good perimiter game, so there's no need for him to be spending all his time out there.

He stated that he's see's improvment in the team with the little things. He also wants to slow the game down in order to help Beno run the club better. He said that Beno has the ability, but has to make better decisions. He hopes that slowing things down will help him do that.

He said that the players are working their butts off so far for him and seem to be buying into the things he wants them to do. Which includes being on time for practices and buses etc.

Grant, or Mike, I forget, said that people are probably surprised about players being late. Natt said people would be surprised about a lot of things. He wouldn't divulge any more info in that area, but laughed about it. He didn't exactly say it, but implied that if you do the little things then the big things would follow.

And that folks is the line the coach should draw. What happens behind the scenes should stay behind the scenes between the coaching staff and the players. He hinted that their may be other things that we wouild be surprised about, but not what, and not who.

In my opinion Theus talked too much, divulged too much, and got too personal. I like the way Natt presents himself. He's very calm and collected sounding. His experience shines through in the way he talks and how he sounds while doing it. I feel that he very well could be our next coach.

As long as he continues to do the right things and develops our players to the best of his and their ability that's all that can be asked. He is an expereinced Assistant that probably deserves the shot.

I don't think any of us could ask for much more out of Natt currently. This could very well lead into a permenant position if he keeps this type of developement up. You kill the small mistakes and then you can focus on the bigger tasks - I like his attitude. Even with us losing I think this short tidbit shows he's wanting to do things the right way which we should all be happy with.

Nothing that I heard tonight. I didn't listen much after the interview. I had to go make a crab louie for myself and my wife.

Excellent take on the situation, IMHO. I especially agree with the part about Theus talking too much, etc.
