Napier: "Cousins is the Worst Guy on the Team"

The notes I have seen from people at the Clippers game seem to indicate that all the Kings showed a lack of inspiration. Cuz will look to the veterans for cues as he should.

There is no excuse for a lack of effort. That goes for everybody, and Cousins doesnt get a free pass for dogging it just because everyone else was. Dude has the most talent (debatable with Reke), he should be our star, he needs to be held to a higher standard.

I don't agree but that's OK.

I agree, and Cuz needs to light a fire under his own a**. At the same time, if it's a number of players who are showing a lack of effort, right or wrong, you look hard at the coach. At work, if there's one employee who keeps slacking off and everyone else is working hard, well, that employee is a huge problem. But if a number of employees aren't putting in 100% because their boss keeps screwing up their hard work, well, fire the boss.

Napier is a huge douche but in this case he is right. Cousins is by far the Kings most talented and productive player. He's been awful this year in every department. He has taken a big step backward with his play on the court. His maturity is still about the same as its always been -- not good.

So, yes, Napier is an idiot for many reasons but his "rant" on Cousins is spot on.

If Cousins is the worset player on the team we must be a lock for the NBA championship...o wait nope thats completely not true, even thought hes have a horrible shooting % he leads the team in points, boards, steals and id probably say charges drawn as well while only playing 29mins per game. I would rather have Cousins @ 50% of what he could do than 100% of everyone else on the roster can do other than Tyreke, the roster is fail its as simple as that.

Anybody got comments on Cousins' game tonight?

He's totally cured of all the issues he's had on and off the court. All it took was Grant Napier to light a fire under his ***. This is the start of a Hall of Fame career.

WTF? Cousins had a good game. Why can't you recognize that without the vitriol? It boggles my mind that there are a few people here who actively seem to be rooting for our own players to fail. We've got a couple who detest Tyreke and cannot find anything good to say about him, even when he does everything right, and we've got others who seemingly want Cousins to crash and burn.

Why?

It was a joke!! All we can really do it try to keep our humor during these dark times as a Kings fan. I think it's great he had a good game. I do not want him to fail at all. I hope he proves me wrong but right now I'm just being honest about my opinion of him.

It didn't seem like a joke. It just seems that there's an awful lot of negative feeling around here that seems to permeate almost every thread. It gets pretty depressing, you know?

I thought it was sarcasm. I'm sorry for the misunderstanding.

:)

Grant Napier is the stool, I mean tool of the mafools. and, to paraphrase, "If you don't like that, you don't like morally corrupt corporate mouthpieces!"

I just had the vision in my head of MSE as Gotham.

Pretty much the same thing, right?

How much you wanna bet Grant Napier tries to take credit for Cousins' performance tonight?

(Sorry Vlade, I don't mean to be negative, I just can't stand that man)

Best part of this thread is the butchering of Napear. And the Idea that Grant somehow hates Demarcus. They do an hour(sometimes 2) in studio every month......

thats a good point. not to mention that DeMarcus himself came out and said he has been terrible this season. i get the feeling that thats what sparked Grant to go off about it

Cuz needs to get a little of the underdog / "nobody respects me" thing going - Kind of like Dirk in the 05/06 days when people called him soft. People aren't calling him soft, but they are calling him lazy, unintelligent, etc. He's been the biggest / most talented guy on the court - probably his whole life, and as such, hasn't had to work at the same level as others have to get where he is. Until he starts to truly fail, and by that I don't mean losing games - plenty of all-star caliber players were on teams that couldn't win, I'm talking about getting disrespected. He's probably going to do the same thing (i.e., sloppy inbound passes that turn into quick points, lazy fouls when his guy gets past him, trotting down the floor in crunch time). In 6 or 7 years when he starts to slow down, he will have no place in the league. That is, unless something or someone lights a fire under him... In my opinion, that job may be too hard for Smart, or maybe any coach. It probably has to come from him learning how to take criticism and turn it into fuel.

Cousins and Tyreke are probably the only two players on the team that can put butts in the seats. To trade them would be pure folly, so thats probably what will happen. I'am totally disgusted with this franchise!

I agree. To wind up rewarding them with a trade out of NBA hell for poor performances or bad behavior sends a really bad message to the other players and to potential incoming players that dont want to be here.

I think Cousins heard this very strong criticism of him.

Nice job Mr. Grant. And nice job for the fans who also called on Cousins.

It seems like it worked positively on Cousins. :)

Three wins in a row.

Yes !!!

ive noticed since his most recent ejection he has really cleaned up his attitude towards officials. raising his hand when a foul is called (never seen him do that before), not complaining much, and i even saw him give all 3 officials a friendly fist bump at the end of the game friday!
