My sample 2011 off season

Kings draft Kyrie Irving with the number 1 pick: Kings get their point guard of the future to pair with Tyreke. With the Kings' luck, they may fall back to 4, where Kemba Walker would provide a reasonable alternative. But since this is my fantasy, I'm thinking they get #1.

Kings let Dalembert and Landry walk: These two just aren't fitting right IMHO. It's very possible one or both will be traded by the deadline, so this scenario is obviously if they were not traded.

Kings sign free agents Tayshaun Prince and Tyson Chadler: Prince is a veteran defender with championship experience who can hit the three (46% this year) to open up driving lanes for our guards. Prince is 30 but has some good years left and this would give Casspi a chance to grow into his role. Chandler appears healthy and is a bit younger at 28. He would provide the quality shot blocker/defender to pair with Demarcus and allow JT to be the first big off the bench. Irving creates offense for Chandler a la CP3.

Irving/Udrih
Evans/Garcia
Prince/Casspi/Greene
Chandler/Thompson
Cousins/Whiteside

Any thoughts?

As an aside, I've been sorting though players of interest I deemed as somewhat realistic options this offseason. They are coded Free Agent (FA), Restricted Free Agent (RFA), or Trade Needed (T). There's a much bigger list of free agents of course, but I've widdled it down to these guys. No Z-Bo or Jamal Crawford (issues re: fit with personnel), Tony Parker, David West, Carmelo Anthony (too big for Sacramento, probably), or marginal role players (Reggie Evans, Joel Pryzbilla, etc.)

3 POINT SPECIALISTS: Courtney Lee (T), Daniel Gibson (T), Shannon Brown (FA), Brandon Rush (T), Dorell Wright (T), Caron Butler (FA), Mo Williams (FA).

DEFENDERS: Shane Battier (FA), Boris Diaw (FA), Tayshaun Prince (FA), Trevor Ariza (T), Andrei Kirilenko (FA), Jeff Greene (RFA), Tyson Chandler (FA), Nene (FA).

Chandlers impact on the Mavs D has been likened to Dirks impact on their offense. Theres no way they dont pay to keep him and no way he comes here. We'd be better of trying to keep Dally

I know we want a PG, but if I'm picking #1, I'm taking BPA. SF is just as much a need as PG, and if Terrence Jones or Perry Jones is sitting there, I'd have a hard time not taking either of them. A lot of that depends on who the BPA is come June, and that depends on when Irving comes back from injury, and how he plays.

But I know its your fantasy offseason, so I will let you have your way!

I think both Perry and Terrence Jones are projected PFs. They may be able to play some 3, but the 4 looks like the best fit for both of them. I'd still consider both, but you need to look at them primarily as 4s IMO.

It's hard to take any off-season plan seriously that starts with us winning the #1 pick. Add to that it's probably 50-50 right now whether Irving enters the draft this year or stays at Duke another year. However, if we do get Irving in the draft, we'd be looking at veteran free agents to put around the three youngsters so the plan makes sense from there. Landry is likely gone because someone will want to pay him starter's money and he's not a great fit with the team we're putting together. Dalembert may be worth re-signing as a defensive specialist off the bench if he's not too expensive. I don't like the idea of counting on Whiteside as a major rotation player next year without getting him any playing time this year. Chandler can probably fill in at center though so Whiteside could play limited minutes at C or PF depending on match ups. Other than that my only concern with this plan is how badly Chandler will want to stay in Dallas if they have a solid playoff run this year.

I don't think there is any way Terrence Jones will be playing PF in the NBA
