Sure, but even though they need a PF, Shane Battier's eprceived value around the league is >> than KT. Hence you run into the two to tango problem. Not to mention having landed ALL of our rebounding onto the Rockets roster and leaving us a significant threat to be the first team in NBA history to be outrebounded by 10 a game. Meanwhile Shane comes here, needs at least 25+ min to be happy, and can only get them by...being the backup PF? backup OG? Starting "OG"? In any case, Ron plays 40min a night, and Shane Battier is no 8 min a night backup.

One of the reasons why they traded for Battier is his versatility on the defensive end; He can defend the wings and some of the PF's in the league. If he is matched up at the four, he can spread the floor for Yao. Bonzi is a one year rental (option on the second) and there's no guarantee he would even fit.

Hah I dont think they will do that. I think thomas is a bit overrated or at least hasnt proved much of himself yet. Battier has a lot of fan love, and novak is a lights out shooting big man.

Kenny is most certainly underrated. I think everyone in Houston was and is pissed that we traded him away years ago. We haven't had a real power forward in years and considering we're giving heavy minutes to Juwan Howard, it would be nice to have him again.
That being said, he's not that valuable. Shane Battier is a cornerstone piece that Van Gundy has been offering animal sacrifices for for years. We traded Rudy Gay for the guy so there's no way we're trading him for Kenny Thomas. Plus Battier is just a better player. He's one of those guys in which the stats don't show much. He's probably the most intelligent player in the league who maximizes his talent and works within the offense. He's a great defender, can knock down 3s at around 40% and will not disrupt the offense.
And on top of that, you want our boy Novak? T-Mac was going off on at training camp about how Novak was the best three point shooter he's ever seen. The guy missed something like 9 free throws in 4 years at Marquette and was one of the best three point shooters in college basketball.
Our GM isn't the most popular guy in the world, but he's no Isiah Thomas. But I'm sure if you offered up Kenny to New York, they'll give you some prime draft picks.
