Musselman and our PG's

During the press conference, Musselman specifically said he wanted to pressure the ball up the court. With that being said, how does he expect Bibby to do that. Bibby is not quick enough to full court press. Does that mean Bibby may be on the block? Your thoughts.

He didn't say he'd be initiating full court presses every time the opponent got the ball. He said he'd be focusing on several things, including reminding the players an inbounds shouldn't always be conceded without any kind of effort.

I don't see "Bibby is not quick enough to full court press" as being a justification for putting him on the block.

I don't either, but I don't see any back court pressing going on with Bibby in your line up. Tell me how they are going to press a backcourt that is far quicker than ours (which is probably 95% of them if you keep Bonzi)

Interesting point. I would say that actually a number of our guys are not suited for that, and while I know the Maloofs have explained that personnel are irrelevant to playing defense, and its all the coach, I would think you are not going to be that effective doing that with Mike, Brad, maybe even Bonzi (although Bonzi is one of the best ball hawkers in the league). Kenny could do it, but then again he can't protect the rim if the pressure is broken.

Maybe if we made no moves at all a backup "bench mob" group of Martin, Cisco, Hart, KT and...somebody else, could do it off the bench? In any case, you need athletes to do that consistently. You might be able to create some havoc with a Ron/Bonzi/Kevin/Cisco quartet if you could find an athletic shotblocker to back them up, but only in spots.

He can run it while Bibby is out or, depending on match-ups, use Bibby up front and use the quicker guards to pressure the ball. Also if they are going to run something like that with any success, the team has to be aware and ready to make rotations.

At this point, it's too early to take everything being said as a definite.

Maybe Hart or a new back up PG could do the full court pressure. He could also put Bibby in a place where he is not a complete liability. I think Bibby will be fine if he just tries harder, hes not as slow as most people think, sometimes i think he dogs it on defense.
